Re: New 43 Sunsation F4 - pictures
since we have so many postin here I thought I would pose a quick question for u builders.. I am currently looking for a boat in the beginning of 2006. I didnt realize that there were so much wood in a sunsation. I have always been lead that this was a very bad deal. Are all of the Sunsations built with this muac wood in thier design?

Gotcha, thanks for the explanation.. |

i know this is the part of the build process that goes slow but how about some updates and progress reports. this whole process is intriguing to observe.

thanks augie The dash has been removed from the cockpit and is being worked on separately. I believe the engine hatch is also off now and being finished separately. They will do all the molds at the same time, so it is a matter of getting the last piece ready. My guess is the start of making molds is about a month away. Not sure we will get any more pics until then. I will probably go up later in Sept and then again between Thankgiving and Xmas. By then I hope they have pulled the boat from the mold. But you can always call on Dave and see what he posts, :p |

But there is light at the end of the tunnel - the MOLDS are being started Oct 1. The boat should start about a month later. So the long journey of tooling the plug is about over. IMO, it ihas been very much worth the wait. They get a 10 for the tooling on this boat. My question last time up there....wonder how much of this eye candy tooling will be retrofited into the existing line. Maybe Dave will post some pics soon :p |

Re: New 43 Sunsation F4 - pictures
From my limited experience,(Powerplay, Apache, Velocity, etc.) it takes, give or take, three months to build & test the first boat out of the mold, of this size range...after the molds are finished. Go backwards from there. From what I've seen, this tooling also incorporates a great amount of detail, which needs to be taken into consideration, as well. It's just plain a LOT of work. But when it's sitting in front of you, all polished out, ready to hit the water for the first time, it's VERY exciting. :drink: Ed
