Guys,
I really appreciate the offers more than you'll ever know, but I must decline. I can't really state the specifics here on the public forum; I felt the best way to handle the situation was to bring it to the attention of my class rep and in turn he would bring it to the attention of the powers that be. Its not in my hands anymore and we'll see how it works out. Like I said in a previous post, I want to race it so keep your fingers crossed.
It means so much to us to have your offers of support, but more importantly your friendships and whether we race again or not, your friendships will always be cherished. We will be there to support you whether we are on the course or off.

Totalling this thread and the "hollywood Roll Call" I am coming up with 20 boats, surely some of you know of others that are coming.? Is the Condo and Still Got It the only OPA guys making the trip?

I know cost of rooms in the area and an earlier in the season than normal race has kept some folks away. They just couldn't afford rooms and/or they're still patching things up from last year.
I'm sure more teams would like to be there, but they just don't have the time and/or money.
Plus, not everyone's on OSO nor do us OSO members always get the word on who's coming. I'm sure more will show, this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Cost of the rooms shouldn't be a reason. They could have rented RV's just like we did. Which works out to be about $700.00 for the weekend. If our team can afford it then anyteam should be able to afford it!!!!

Not only the cost of rooms is a factor but the availability.
The Miami tv stations are talking about how many events there are leading up to the SuperBowl and it is HUGE.
Our event should be a good mix of racers. I know their coming from all over the country. pd

We had a huge Super Bowl story covering many things going on all week surrounding the big game in the Asbury Park Press last weekend under the Travel section...
I'm sorry to report, they did not mention the boat race...
Have a safe one !
I look forward to the pics !

Great stuff !
But why only 1 hour of racing ?
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m
Super Saturday Power Boat Races
You would think you would want to run as long as possible or have 2 races with all of the spectators around that day...
