Gino, I agree to many classes and you might see some consolidation going forward. however I still fail to see why this new class should exist, if these same racers dusting them off where racing they would have parity help in the existing sv class and be running WTO. So instead you are diluting p2 which had 4 sv start in miami and a sv won, ft lauderdale 2sv start and one non sv which one and st cloud with 1 sv which of course won. Out of three races p2 under your plan would have had one race with one boat and two races with no boats. So if you build a class for the svs which haven't bothered to race anyway now they are all coming out? for what to figure out who this class was perfectly designed for? That is why I said fix the big problems the little ones go away. We have to stop creating classes at all organizations, consolidation and more rewards will increase boat count for those who truly wish to compete.

Hey Brett,
I know your not bashing anyone here...and I will answer the best I can... We were origanlly talking if the guys had #'6 they would have to run the 1:50 gear....being that there is only one #6 SV thats runnning 98 mph Gregg's Phantom and he has been racing that boat for a while and we all know the speeds that are capible that it would be grandfather in...all the other #6 SV's are running over 108 mph... We have run againt Bill M. boat and with the taller gears he has good accalerations but it was not with the 1:50 gear...we are still trying to talk to him so if he is interested in running with us all the team owners would talk to see what can be done since the boat is going on 3 years old... As far as Lisa's boat...there lid is cut off...and they were running 1:35's in OSS...when you take the lid off it makes a big differacne and with the 1:50 gears and the cap at 100 mph...I don't think that boat will run a safe 104+ with that set up without a lid I know the #6 are better in the long run...but like us there was never a Dragon built with #6 so we did not take a chance plus none of the older SV or F2's have #6's so to make everyone put on #6 would not make sence... For you to prop down and run with in your new boat would make no sence....again..it would be like all of us running 98 to 100 to prop down and run P3 and then your still by yourself... You have a very fast boat and thats becasue of the people in it and the tech. along with the Outerlimits, Skater and Smittys SV. Why are you not getting together to keep the Class running...If I had a boat like yours I would be doing everything to get the newer boats to race against me...not trying to get the boats you were kicking ass in your older boat... Sorry I will not be able to make Marathon....we are getting the boat ready for O/C and then to Sarasota.... I hope that makes sence....I know it sucks to have spend all that money and time testing and you bring a great team to the sport....and any Organization would be sad to loose you as one of there teams....but you know how this sport is going over the last 4 years...its all over the place...and personally... I'm going to race were its most affordable and compeditive with the most boats....for me to spend the money to make the changes to run with you would cost me 80k+ If I was going to do that I would just put in big HP and #6 and run Unlimited and see what she'll do.... I hope that makes sence...we are not trying to take nothing from you...but like I said there is not a boat racing this year that ran the SV Worlds in 2004 and there is a reason why...we are just trying to get them back.... |
Vinny.....
Its simple....all the P2 boats are SV's in Miami...and it was great racing....but there was talk of some big HP boats coming out and some of they guys said well just move to P3...we did not want that...so since 95% of the boat in P2 are SV's and we new we could get more to come out...thats why we started talking about it... We do not want to take a big HP boat out of P2...thats all and we want to keep all the SV's running 100 to stay to gether... We new with all going on in OSS SV that we were going to have SV 's that wanted to race but not in SV...we also know how many boats out there with bravo's with 1:50 gears would be running 104 or under...so we are thinking ahead...and the more owners we talked to like the idea.... Again..its not our place to tell a big HP boat you can't race with us....P Class is fun...and I'm liking it...but also the likes of SV has fallin apart in both Organizations....and to approach a Organization with a 6 boat field just to start is a no brainer...it would be one of the biggest class's in Offshore this year.... I hope you can see what we are trying to do... Instead of looking at it as they want another class...look at it as they are bringing a SV Class back to its biggests and made it affordable....there are so many boats out there that fit this class that cost around 100k to 150k....hell thats cheaper then most P Class boats with less maintainance... I hope you see this as we are trying to take our success of our class into our own hands and make it the best we can...and the support we are getting has been great.. Think of it, when is the last time you seen a possably 3 Phantoms, 4 or 5 Fountains, a Skater a Donzi a Dragon and a Bad Boys boat all racing in SV...we could get 5 or more Manufactures boats back out racing instead of sitting on trailers.... Its a good thing for everyone... |
Why dont we set up a call with the interested party's and see what we can do. I for one am against any rule change mid stream. Why not find some solution without changing any classes.. Class rule changes would have had to have been made prior to the season. I can set it up if you want. Brett ,timing is an issue, for Marathon, Sarasota is a no brainer. I would like to race you heads up. Lets see if the OLD boats still have it. Aint Scared, just stupid. Smitty

The reality is you will have maybe 3-4 boats at some races, without factory support, prize money tv and sponsorship it wll be a short lived, but good luck anyway when you are ready to tackle the bigger problems call me.

Vinny...I agree with you but if we can get 5 to 6 boats at some races and maybe 8 or so to Sarasota....and finish up at the Worlds with 8 to 10..we would have made great strides in just 6 months which others have not been able to do in years...and maybe get things going for 2008...
I can help in the Prize money side...I also have a in with a little TV and a Series sponsor if we can get the boats...I don't mined putting up some of my goodies and give to other teams...just like others would....and with a $600 entry fee...and less laps we are already saving $2000 plus 1/2 the wear and tear on the boats equipment per race... You guys had 6 or so SV's racing last year in OSS....make a few calls...and ask them if you can jump in there SV with them and run Sarasota...I'll even pay for your entre fee's and gas for the boat...I beleive there are 3 of the 6 teams going to be there already.... |

If they think they have an opportunity for a win against solid competition, and they are having fun, they will show up. Gregg Reichman |

Gino,
I don't understand a couple things. How can McComb, Mathews, Muscle or any 38 Fountain fit in this class? Those three boats are capable of 110 plus or minus. Even if they run a 1.5 they put a 33 and be way over 100mph. Doesn't McComb have sixes. Are you going to Marathon? If so we can talk because I've been testing and racing the 38 for 4 years and they are still very fast. Ask Smitty. I'm not bashing just thought I could give you some insight about the 38 and its speeds. Oh yeah the #6 boat is a lot cheaper to run that the bravo but we all know the initial cost hurts a little. Expecially in the rough stuff. Smitty are coming to Marathon??? I think the idea would be that the boats that can run 110plus would stay in Super V with you??. Why would they change? Gregg Reichman |
Bretts scared of the Purple boat . He wants to run P2. Vinnie, 3-4 boats a race is a good start. Thats all you have in SVL. How would you solve the problem. Maybe starting with SVL.
