SBI / Spec racing question : (Superstock Cat)
I bought Tag's Spirt of America 30' cat last summer and planed on bolting up a set of 200's and running her in OPA # 4 last year. After spending 1/2 the summer trying to reach the class speed I bought a set of 2.5/260 OSR motors.
Question is JSR says with the new A48 Computers and the heads cut she runs approx 275/280hp, Would I be able to run these in Superstock class? I know they are not OSS Legal but I was wondering if they would be SBI Legal. I should have waited and bought a set of 2.5/280's but I never thought I was going to race any thing other than P-Class.
Just wondering?

I will, but I did find the rule book and it reads
"Alternate engine manufactures or older Mercury motors must submit engine data to the SBIP/APBA Offshore technical committee for approval."
So maybe my older 2.5's would work after all.

hey rick,
glad to see your thinking about stock class. Trent is right Lee is the guy to talk to. And as far as the rules. The class makes the rules so if the class votes then your in. I would suggest you pay someone like diamond marine to do a dyno run on your motors and then everyone knows where you stand. But let me say Stock Class has the best group of guys there are. They all get along and are always there to help.
call me if you need any help
