Two racers were injured during Sunday’s final of the Key West Super Boat World Championships, following a week with three fatalities. However, neither of the injuries is believed to be life-threatening.

Warpaint owner/driver Bob Vesper of Somers Point., N.J. and throttleman Danny Crank of Hammonton were hurt when their 38-foot boat with twin 750-horsepower engines smacked into a wave near an offshore turn during the final race of the three-day series.

Super Boat International Productions spokesman Rodrick Cox said Vesper is expected to be released shortly from Lower Keys Medical Center. But Crank was evacuated to Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital with injuries to his ear and a possible concussion. However, Crank was reported to be conscious and talking to rescuers.
