Drambuie on Ice

1 Attachment(s)
My wife just called and said that she saw a yellow cat raceboat headed north on I-95. It had a #4 and Drambuie on Ice logos.

What's the deal with this boat? I assume that this it in the background of one of Ben's posts?

Re: Drambuie on Ice

No it's the Older yellow Apache cat that has been for sale for awhile.

This one: http://server1.offshoreonly.com/geoc....php?a=2&b=198

and it's says sold.

Re: Drambuie on Ice

The two boats behind Eric Cormier are Billy's WHM #5 and Roger Bourget's #4, from a couple of weeks ago in Sarasota.

One of the OPA volunteers is moving up to racing next year. Drambuie/Canada Homes/Labatts, the 38 Apache cat will be racing in P1 on the OPA curcuit next year.

Plus I get to take a ride in it next week!!!!!!!! It should arrive at Kurts Marine tommorow.

Re: Drambuie on Ice

Very cool old boat. Michael Peters design Mealstrom/Apache cat. Throttled by some of the best ever Smitty Smith(?), Johnny T, and Bobby Idioni I believe. Was converted from 5's to surface drives to 6's I think

Re: Drambuie on Ice

Has new KE blown power. Supposed to do about 130. Should make for a great P1 boat.

Re: Drambuie on Ice

as weird as this will sound it is kinda small for a big boat, does that make sense?

Ron P 11-05-2004 09:20 AM

Re: Drambuie on Ice

Yup, that's why it's a good P1 boat. Low freeboard and 2 feet short of a big boat.

I'll post some photos later after it arrives.

So who bought it,I remember when it raced under the Canada homes banner, fast boat and well balanced.

Re: Drambuie on Ice

Bob Vesper bought it. He currently owns a 41 Apache pleasure boat called Warpaint.

The boat looks super clean. No marks at all. It's been stored inside all these years.

On Wed afternoon, we get to run it!

Re: Drambuie on Ice

That cat is very well balanced and a great rough water boat,I have seen it in action and would love to see it kick but again against the newer boats because I think it was ahead of its time goodluck to its new owner and run it over the edge Lorren did and it did a great job, Sweet ride and good luck.

Thanks Everybody, we can't wait till next race season. Its will be running under the Team Warpaint banner, like its big brother and yes it will kick butt, how could it do anything else being maintained by Kurts Competition Marine.

Re: Drambuie on Ice

Wonder how she would run with a set of swept back skegs and a set of extension boxes? Sure that would be good for a few MPH. Congrats to the new owners on a piece of history.

Apache041 11-05-2004 11:07 PM

Re: Drambuie on Ice

Boxes could do the trick, might be something to try!

Re: Drambuie on Ice

Seeing as the boat has been rigged and set up by TNT I would think the boxes have been tried, they don't always work on everything. I would think that this boat is going to clean up in P1 class just the way it is. I think it is about 10K to put swept back skegs on it. Are the drives dry sump?

1HYPER1 11-06-2004 10:57 AM

Re: Drambuie on Ice

I would agree with Sticker boy,it was set up by TNT so I am sure that the set up it has is the way to go,good luck with your new toy,and be safe.

Re: Drambuie on Ice

Bob, as long as The Godfather blessed you, you are now an official Jersey Boy.

These are wet sump 6s. Old school stuff in perfect condition.

Ryan Beckley 11-06-2004 11:52 AM

Re: Drambuie on Ice

send em to Colabella for the Dry Sump Conversion and the swept back skegs about 5 MPH
