How much longer before you see a motorized adjustable wing just behind the bow on the deck. Ultimate bow adjustability! I've seen it before but on a back yard project, it worked but everyone laughed. It's only a matter of time.

Thanks for the plug Pat.
Merc racing says the 150s are perfect for the 24 and the 280s would be too big. Pantera says I'll be fine w/ the 150s, but up to the 280s if I'm concerned.
Would the longer tabs create more drag, decreasing speed more than the shorter ones?

Bash what you say about breaking effect with k-planes makes a point. But every boat builder installs them so would not every V have the same problem ??? When we were on Maryland Y2K bow lift did not seem to be a problem at all. I guess I will see soon enough.

I prefer the longer ones cause they can lengthen your running surface and sometimes that is a good thing. Thats my preferance anyway. Great boarding platform as well. Too much though and it feels like your draging an anchor or two :eek: :eek:

I had the smallest K-planes (140S) on my Pantera and they worked fine too. But like OH-Zone, I prefer the larger for running in the rough.

Sure if the longer plane is dragging even when up, it's going to slow you down.

The fellow that owned my boat before me said that he liked the K-planes at neutral position for better stability when making speed runs. She had 500+HP and was running in the mid 80's for him though...

I just dont see any benefit of the speed increase with the step. No natural lift & this thing needs lift to run. Period. I'd love to try the old style... with my setup.

SUPER G- My concern is the k-planes on Stepbottoms...not all V's...The 24 & 30's seem to SQUAT in the water (this is not just coming from me by the way) so maybe the 280's are "hitting".

BASH is gonna have to un-pin them for the old trial & error thing. :rolleyes:

Is it possible that the 12 " setback has a negative effect in the rough at speed? The motor has to carry the weight further forward with such a set up. In calm not as much an issue cause more constant bite the motor has. Good idea to unpin the tabs..But I dont think thats gonna change things. I played with ny tabs I didnt feel any changes in performance in the first 1/4 or so of movement down from the full up position.

Superbash, I believe that you are right.
The step in the new 24' is a waste and likely does nothing good. When you trim her up to run fast the step is not even in the water.
The other mods to the newer hull, bigger strakes, pad, and notch, do they help? Probably...

Oh, buy the way, if anyone wants an older style hull to convert to OB, I'll strip mine at the end of the season... :drink:
