Hey ZZ, I only tow locally with the Jeep and never over 45mph. So long as the trailer brakes are working, it's not too bad...

I'm running a stock 28p Bravo I, 1.5 ratio drive. Seems to be right on. The engine is supposed to make it's best power between 4600-5000rpm. She does pull real hard to 4600-4700 and them clime up to 4800. Low on gas, I think she'll get to 4900...

Im sure you'll find a few MPH once your able to keep the throttles pegged and play with the tabs and trim! Now all ya need is someone to take some action shots of you ripping it up!

Pat
Your #'s are right on doing the math. With the slip you got right now...going up 100rpm to 4900 puts you @ about 77.4.
Good setup you got. We are gonna have 24Superboat Drag Races this Oct. on the River. Oh DaveM????Where are you???

Re: First Superboat Ride of 2005
hey pat, happy to see you up and running,i waved at you today in my buddys new 29 fountain near essex.i've got to get on the ball and get my rig back in the water,i still have to button up the transom and install the drive and external steering,i did manage to get it unshrinkwrapped the other day though! now you got me wondering if i will have to upsize my prop,i was running a 26 lab finish at 4900 before raising the x up 3 inches, a few good runs will answer that question i guess. anyway congrats on your boat, hopefully i'll be out soon with you guys, later, bob

OK, so far my numbers a similar to Pat's. I tried a 28P Bravo yesterday. The prop I used is a demo prop from the local Merc dealer, its one of those blue painted ones. It looked to be in so-so condition.
First run, just me, full gas, less than ideal conditions, 75.1.
Second run, me, fat-ass buddy and his skinny girl friend, 3/4 fuel, better conditions, 75.3
It was very windy here yesterday, I kept having to work the tabs to correct.
I noticed the same with the RPMs. It shoots up to 4500-4600 real fast and then a slow climb after that. On the first run I hit 4900, second run only about 4700. The conditions on the second run were more favorable even though I had less RPMS and More weight. I think just me, low fuel, good conditions is going to get about 78. I think 80 is possible with a labbed 28P.
With the 28P my cruise speeds are killer!
50 MPH @ 3000 RPMs
60 MPH @ 3800 RPMs

YES. We are all proving the all ready proven 24 SB fact. These things run into a wall at these mid-high 70's speeds. Step or no step. OhZone proved it even with a "lightweight" layup step bottom. Weight doesnt play a major role either. Bash ran his best with 3/4 tank in the chop. Dave...gotta leave those trim tabs/brakes up & hit a nice "into the wind head on chop" for top speed. Forget the labbed props......

Condor Bob, get on it...
It's time to show off that new paint job and test the higher setup...
Dave, it looks like our boats will crack 75mph just about any day of the week...
It is going to take a little seat time for me to gain some confidence, 75 is cooking...
Storm, with the right prop, you will be running well over 80mph.
Keith it is great to be back on the water and running strong.
SuperGene, This fall at the CT River run you and I are running up front...
I believe the wall is more like low 80's for these 24's. It will take 500+HP to get there though...
There is always next year...
