Re: Y2K set ups
Jim,
Superbabi doesn't have a problem at all with bow lift. Hit the trim, and you can really get her to air out. I blueprinted the hull for bow lift. Theres no problem getting her bow out of the water. With your hull, you had to lower your drive to get more of a bite (leverage), for bow lift. I think that since Babi doesn't have bow lift issues, the force that would have been exerted to lift the bow can now be turned into more MPH. We're all hoping. Rick |

Oh Professor Jcap,
I have just read through all the threads. Everyone is finally listening to you... John Jr's old boat got a spacer, Babi is getting a spacer, Oh-zone is planning for a deeper prop... :drink: |
Re: Y2K set ups
Jc Needs To Step Up And Take Care Of The Spacer On This X Dimmension Placement.

Re: Y2K set ups
I only know what worked on the JESSIE JAMES, like Rick said my hull was blueprinted differentely, testing on other hulls needs to be done before John changes X dim on all his Y2Ks. And I still believe for stock power the higher X will be the best set up, ( kracs boat in texas is showing great numbers for a stock merc 30 ft single) spacers are easier to change than X dims. I did talk to the new owner of John jrs boat and I suggested he put a spacer and try a 5 blade , I dont think Rick did any magic on his hull either,( did you Rick?) I am waiting to hear his results.
And yea Pat its nice to think someone is listening to me! but the truth is, thats the cool thing about this site ,we all want to be the fastest but we share info and help one another, and if my suggestions help you guys ,thats great and I drink free at Superfest right? |
Re: Y2K set ups
From what I heard. JC jrs. hull was blueprinted straight (flatboarded)

Re: Y2K set ups
I think if he (superbabi) has no bowlift issues ,thats a great compliment to Rics ability to message the bottom and create a rocker that gives bow lift, but that same rocker may be creating a disturbed water flow to the prop and causing unusually high slip numbers, thats not a bad thing unless you cant correct it , and the easiest way to correct slip is going deeper. I would bet that Kracs hull is straight or has a slight hook. Many hulls require a slight hook and I think the Y2K mold has a hook

Re: Y2K set ups
I spoke with Gary(Superbabi) and said before any other changes go the 2" deeper and test when merc comes back cause inquiring minds want to know!
I remember Professor Jcaps older thread and illustrations and havent forgotten that lesson either :D |
Re: Y2K set ups
I want et to chime in here...hows the spacer and the 29 pitch working for you?
