Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat

But for reliability? Im talkin about taking the 30' across the gulfdtream from florida to the bahamas, alone, in a single. Diesel, no? Or a good radio and sea tow coverage.

Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat

For less $ you could just run twin small block EFIs.
Twins for reliabilty. 1 diesel can die too.
And it would be better on resale.

A diesel w/ drive will be all of 35,000.
With all that torque it would be nice to spin a big prop. Probably bigger than most drives will allow.

You think twin sb's would cost less than 35k, drives and all? steering? how about maintenance and replacement parts?

300HP/350MagMpi Bravo drive packages sell for around 12K.
320HP/6.2L Bravo packages sell for around 15K.
Twin ram, full hydraulic steering cost about 6K.

The cost is basically a wash so it's a matter of preference...

very True. I would take the growling sound at 5500 then 2800 anyday. That and no smoke. Unless I try. :D

I was wrong on this... it should be:
$32k for the 400hp engine.
$13k for the drive and tranny.

So thats 45K.
So you would have 10k less in a twin SB.
Plus you'll know what you have... its been done.

Yeah, 45k? I have to check my records, but I have heard 35k on an entire package before.

Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat

Sorry it took so long to reply.
The Tigershark is about $32k.
Add a konrad, cuz i wouldn't think of putting a bravo behind this.

This $ is from my convo w/ them a year or so back.
You can call them to double check... w/ my old age I'm having some senior moments. :drink:

Stormrider:

Does that price include a Bravo? Is that turnkey with all the guages, etc.? I thought I remember an earlier post that indicates that.
