SPEEDBOAT Photo shoot, pictures
This was supposed to be a photo shootout between 4 L.I. boat builders. Superboat, Activator, Kryptonite and Progression. We arrived at Hecksher State Park a few minutes late of the 7:30 meeting time. Luckily, we were the first to arrive. A few minutes later, a caravan (3) of new 29' Activators pull up. I must admit, it looked pretty impressive. One rigged with a 525, another with a 680 supercharged and the yellow was'nt rigged yet.
we all sat around checking out each others boats, swapping ideas. All the time the writer from Speedboat is trying to contact Kryptonite and Progression. They were both no-shows !!!
During the inspection of the Y2K the writer says he's very impressed with the engine compartment and layout of the boat. I think we scored big time !!!
Sea trials were another story. Activator claimed 85 mph with their 525. We claimed 78. During the trials the Speedboat guys took the boats themselves to test.
Here are the results. Calm water, 1' chop at best
Superboat Y2K.... 77.1 mph
Activator 29..........80 mph
And remember, the Activator is 29' overall including swim platform. Our Y2K is 32'.
So the Activator beat us by 2.9 mph. Not bad considering.
All in all we had a nice day.
I must correct Gary, Oh Zone. I woke his ass up at 6:00 am !!
Enjoy the pics.

Thanks Rick for the additional pics. With everything going on I neglected to take more than 4 myself. I hope to contact Eric for some of the nice running shots!

Both boats look great...congrats.
Something tells me Superboat AND Activator will be leading the L.I. manufacturers in sales and market presence.
Both are moving with the times and listening to what people want and need...
Had a Progression a few years ago...not surprised they didn't show. Don't understand Kryptonite though.

The new 29 activator is a nice boat. The orange 29 was rigged by the best, MRD. With the best stuff. Im sure the blue activator with the 525 came fully dialed in, including a 6 blade herring. With the x dimension at a height for the 6 blade. The 30 super is still the best buy for the buck.
