Default New 24's???

Ok I have been here before and always lurke to see the build up pics. I am hoping to get a boat this upcoming summer, but that has been the plan for several years now. I am in Long Island and always like the Superboat. I have a 2 year old and I have to do the family deal on the weekends. I never owned a boat in my life but I have always wanted one.

This is a two part question. Anybody use a 24 for family use? Too rough a ride? Cramped?

Why no new 24's??? Can they be custom built like the 30's? Approx price with simple BB power? I could upgrade as I get used to power. Is this a mistake for a 1st boat 9I guess that is 3 questions)

Thanks in advance for the input. Brian

My prior boat was a 24 with a 300X. A great family boat! Substantial freeboard, cut like a knife, a place to crash for the little one down below, a porta-potti for the misses too. Very trailerable. I get a lot of ribbing for the bimini in this picture but it kept my wife and little one out of the sun. Hard to see but my wife is in the back holding my son. I liked the outboard cause it added about a foot in the cockpit area. Pat McPhearson on the board here is also a family man and they all seem to enjoy theirs with an i/o. I also believe its a good starting point for someone with no boating experience. Where are going to be boating on L.I.?

One of the main reasons for the "CRAZE" in Y2K's is the unbeatable price. For a few grand more you can upgrade to a 30' (32' overall) over a 24'. We can make anything you want. From a basic 24' to a fully customized one, it's up to your wallet.

I am not sure where I would be boating. I am told North is calmer? but South is where everything is?

Why don't they update web site? I know you can't post exact price but how about a range? When I say custom I am basically thinking about a custom color maybe a dark blue or bright orange. I know to rough colors to keep up and also hard to sell but I just want something different. Thanks

D 750, great news about your intrest on the 24'. You will be very happy with the boat. I was on a few 24's through the years, most current was the SUPERBASH O/B !!!!!!! Real nice ride on a nasty day on the Great South Bay. As Rick said ( THE BUILDER ) most guy's go with the Y2K because of the great price. No matter what SUPERBOAT you go with you will be in good hands with Rick on the build. Give John a call a SUPERBOAT he will have a new Y2K Demo boat there for a ride.............Gary

A 24' Super is a Great Family Boat!
And a Great entry level high performance boat!

I like to "hot rod" my boat, it is part of the hobby for me, so I do like having a V8 Chevy under the hatch...
However if that is not part of your game, I would recommend the outboard version...
I recommend to all first time boat buyers to buy an outboard because they are far easier to maintain than an i/o...
As for power, it's all about how fast you want to go. A 250HP outboard will push a 24' near 70mph which is real fast on the water. The 375HP/496 pushes the 24' at speeds over 75...
I think JC, FX and company will build you one for around 50K complete, depending upon power and options...
Sorry to say this FX and JC, but I would recommend buying a second hand boat. Another recommendation I always make to first time boat buyers...
I'm quite sure you can find a nice used 24' Super for less than 1/2 of new. If it's a 24' Superboat you choose, whether it's an i/o or outboard, new or used, you won't be disappointed with its' value and performance...
