Re: How Much HP ???
I can't imagine you needing 1000hp to break 100.
850hp should do it. And do a beefed up IMCO bravo or BMAX. You're not going to be running it 100 all the time, and if you're running 60-70 either one of these should do fine. What breaks the drive? Hard on throttle to get on plane. Launching. What else? I think if you drive the boat w/ some care either of these drives will be fine. |
Re: How Much HP ???
From what I can gather its the gears that let go most of the time... only one tooth in contact at a time. The main use of the boat is going to be poker running. I would like a cruie speed in the 80's hence the 1000hp number. Its not a top speed thing just don't wanna have to push the engine too hard for the cruise speed.

Re: How Much HP ???
I hear you....
Looks like the new ACE drive wouldn't suit your application anyways... "The drive is robust enough to handle engines between 600 and 800 horsepower with an input torque rating of 800 ft-lbs." http://www.mercuryracing.com/product...drysumpace.php |
