you need to compare apples to apples. you've listed hp from 375 to 1300. decide how fast you want to go then choose a builder.

i'd go with jc for whatever you decide

I am not building a boat. I would go for Saris just because my father owns the company. I am just curios of peoples speed and motor oppions.

Hell, for 65K you can buy a 30' Super with a 496HO Bravo X... :D
To answer the question:
If I'm living in dream land, and 65K is the budget for power, Merc. Racing 600sci Bravo XR... :drink:
Now if I am fortunate enough to acquire a 30' Super in the near future, I will build my own 500-600HP engine and hook it to a beefed up Bravo drive... :D

Well my 598ci 802hp cost the same as a Merc 525. Not near 65g's. How do I vote?

Hey Fast Fun,
In my opinion your poll should have included an engine and drive as a package...
For example, Faster chose a custom built 801HP/598cube with a Merc Bravo XR...
65K for just an engine, leaves this too wide open. Most 65K engines make BIG Power and require a #6 or some other high $$ out-drive...

TeamSaris 02-21-2006 09:26 AM

Re: Best power under 65k.

OK I will try and change it.

That is why I chose the Merc 850, the motor alone should come in around $65.

Re: Best power under 65k.

For that kinda green I could have Zul build me 750hp easy + and imco drive to handle that power. With that purchase JC has to scrub my porta potty once a week too!!!
So I voted other!

I think custom power is a great alternative, but its nice to have the builder nearby, just incase you need them.
