97.3 MPH Y2k
It's DonY2K's y2k. Last month Jimmy Jaznoski (Extractor) drove this boat in 3 to 4 footers off of Patachouge and saw 94 solid on the Merc Speedo. Yesterday we decided to take a GPS along to see how accurate the speedo was. The bay was glass calm. we saw 87 on the spedo. GPS 93.2
We went out the Fire Island Inlet to make a run to Jones Inlet to see what we could do. The fun part was , I was driving. After navigating the 6 foot swells in the inlet we were off to Jones Beach Inlet (after a short beer break ;) ) The ocean was awesome!!! 3,4,6 foot swells, but far apart. I actually wish it was rougher. We had a blast. The best speed I saw on the speedo was 91. After that run Don could'nt get the smile off his face. He showed me the GPS.... 97.3 MPH. MOVIN !!!!! If 91 on the merc speedo was 97.3.... what was 94??? 103 ??? We determined that with His boat. Up to 60 MPH. The speedo was off approx. 4 to 6 mph. 60 to 75 MPH it was off 6 to 8 mph. 75 and up , it was off almost 10 MPH. We had an awesome day! I called in sick that day .......................I think . LOL This Baby does over 100 in the right water. Oh and Jeff ( JC performance) you build 1 hell of a motor !!! Rick |

Yup !! Turning a left hand 5 blade wheel.
|
Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k
Mine did not like the 5 blade. Could not lift the boat. Had the same speed, just handled like chit.

Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k
4 blade runs great and I spin it left.
|
Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k
PE, I know what you mean. the boat could use more lift. But the speeds were great !! Especially in the ocean., that was the best part of the day.
|
Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k
Don
Are you going to bring this Y2 Rocketship up to the Conn. River??????? |
Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k
I'll call Don to see if he can OK it with his significant other. LOL
|
Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k
Damn Rick, if you went on that beer diet we talked about you could have hit 100! :D Congrats Don!

Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k
Let me tell ya Tom, the boat was movin !!! When I saw 91 on the speedo, the GPS was still aquiring. 97,3 was at 89 on the speedo. Who knows.......we might have hit 100 that day.

Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k

Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k
We built an 800 for a 29 KRYP and it just bumps 100. SO the Y2K being longer would take 850? Like gary said.

Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k
Somebody please post a pic of the boat. I'm interested in seeing this 90+ mph Superboat.
Thanks |

Lightspeeds Krytonite did 104 with 800hp. I guess it is all how you set it up. My Progression hit 98 on GPS with the drive very high and a 1.36 ratio with 850hp and in flat water.. |

BTW, I love the look of your all white Y2K! During my 100 hrs of boating this summer I saw less than a handful of v-hulls that look as sharp as your clean Superbabi! Dan ********* Thank you Steve for offering us a platform to help keep our minds off the cold weather & passion alive as we inch toward the summer of '07! |

Re: 97.3 MPH Y2k
Did You Calibrate You Gps Before Using It ? - Read The Book That Come With You Gps Model - Mine States Becuase Some Models Are Mfg In Ca, China Etc They Are Calibrated For That Elivation Etc, You Need To Dial A Gps In For Your Area. Thats What My Garmin States In The Direction. - Yours May Be Incorrect And The Spedo Maybe More Accuract The Diffrence In Speed Does Not Seam Right.
