New Y2K Build
2 Attachment(s)
This hull was originally being built for stock. But It was sold last Sunday. Coen has deposit in hand. So this week Bob and I have been working like dogs to get them done. Yeah, I said them. We also started a new 21' CC IO too. Both are at the same stage of the build at the moment. Tomorrow the bulkheads will go in the Y2K.
Here a few pics. 1 of the 30 and 1 of the 21 Rick |

It's great to here you've got some new orders Rick. What kind of power is the fish boat getting? Any refinements in the design from the last 21'cc io? So did the black and white 30' sell yet? Which of the 30's with your new bottom is going to hit the water first? |

Any thoughts about getting away from Merc and going with a custom builder and a Konrad? I know everyone wants the Merc warrenty, but I think a custom boat deseves custom power!:D
The boat has been sitting for almost a year though... Come on Rob, ship that engine...:D |

Now for less then the $$ Merc Racing packages cost, you can get similar if not more HP from a custom builder. |

I think the $$ an OEM boat builder pays for a Merc 496HO Bravo X package would be tough for a custom engine builder to beat.

Re: New Y2K Build

We got you covered on the Konrad. |
Re: New Y2K Build
Custom motors ??? Im sure there are loads of motor builders all over the country that are great at there craft, many of who chat at OSO. If you do live in there back yard and they can warranty what they build and the price is right perhaps a smart choice. But in my opinion there is no better choice than MERC RACING. Warranty service world wide !!!!!
|
Re: New Y2K Build
superbabi, when does your warranty run out?
jk... i hear you about stock motors. |

Re: New Y2K Build
Is black and white hull still available,I have been thinking about building one with MDG582/750hp with konrad drive
|
Re: New Y2K Build
Yes, the black hull is still available. HAd 2 guys look at her in the last month. Neither has pulled the trigger yet. So it's still for sale. Coen was having a sale on it around Christmas time. Nicely reduced price. You should have looked at it then, coul've saved a few grand. Give John a call at 631-226-1761 and talk to him. Who knows... he might still do the Christmas sale price. Tell him Rick sent ya. ;)

Re: New Y2K Build
Rick how long do you think to finish the black and white hull.I would be interested in buying the complete hull with cockpit interior, complete dash rigging,my shop would rig engine,gimbal,steering,k-planes,etc.
|
Re: New Y2K Build
I can have it completely assembled in less then 2 weeks. John can also have the dash done in that time. But the upholstry will take some time. I don't know the turnaround on the upholstry. Call Coen, I'm sure John can answer that for you.

Re: New Y2K Build
Whats this I hear all boats in CA have to be equipped with catalic converters now and the EPA may implement it for the entire US ? How would a Y2k look with Cat Converter ?

OK, back to the build. The bulkheads are all in, and so is the fuel tank. The deck was flipped today, and tomorrow Coen will start rigging the deck. |

Rick I have a question about gelcoating the engine comp, Y ? The gelcoats seem to stain and hard to keep clean. The discusion on other forums are to paint the compartment not gel. Yes-No and why ?
|
I have an opinion on gel. I did mine while the motor was out. but in the process of re-installing, aligning, dropping things, spilling fluids and standing, twisting, and turning scratches the gel and dirt mixed with fluids, stains and looks like crap. Don't know if 2 part paint is any better.
|
Have nyou tryed Mary Kate in the bilge. I''ve been using it for years and it cleans up a bilge really nice. Imron looks awesome when the engine compartment is prepped properly. With fairing and all the other work involved. It worth alot of money to have your engine compartment done properly with Imron. I charged $ 3,500.00 to do a 36 Cig a few yearts ago. And I was fully gutted.
