First dyno numbers are 488hp with the A/F WAY out of whack Couldn't pull it beyond 5300 rpm due the that. Computer has been sent back to Crockett for him to adjust the parameters that are off. We may also need to upgrade the fuel system. B-Rad is pretty sure we'll break 500 hp, but it will probably be around 5500 rpm. It looks like I'm going to have to spin her a little harder than I planned to, but she's built for it with the short stroke and all. More numbers to come on Friday!

My junk holley fuel pump lunched at 18 hours while jc and I were blasting the race course in Destin last fall, almost got run over by the popeye's race boat and had to limp in. :rolleyes: welden is the way to go if you need to upgrade. Tell Brad to get the taint smell off his upper lip and push the sticks.. 6000 rpms minimum. :hitfan: |

Are you calibrating with your wet exhaust headers or dry dyno headers? You may want to have O2 sensor bungs welded in your CMIs so that you can recheck in the boat. |

Here's my dyno from 2005. If I remember correctly, your engine had/has a little more cam, something like the Crane 741. Also, a carb and ported high rise intake will out flow the Merc MPI intake. Pretty good measuring stick though... |

Here's my dyno from 2005. It's got about 126 hours on it now and still runs strong. ;) Definitely has a cam in it. Not sure of the exact specs, although it'll idle around 700 rpms and isn't bad around the dock. I believe it's a hydraulic roller setup, correct Storm? |
The computer and Dyno info is back at Crockett's. He is going to look at the stuff today and make some changes. We are real fat at idle, but too lean at the top. 14.9:1 A/F at 5300 rpm. 11.7:1 at idle. Crocket thinks the upper end is due to not enough fuel and we'll need to upgrade the fuel system.
Brad has the Aeromotive pump in stock ready to go, so we'll most likely plumb the Aeromotive system to fix her up. If we have to do it, this will be the quickest way to go with good parts. Oh well, it's only money right! Everbody keep your fingers crossed for the program to be right tomorrow! |
Not sure of the cam... and i'm doubting JC would remember.
Had an 850Demon Carb, and Zul ported intake manifold. It did idle just around 700, and was pretty tame, bit did need a goose every now and then, but that just made it sound badder around the docks. |
Jeff, you had no interest in selling the 24 w/o power for the mig??? ;) that would a been a $10k upgrade at the min.

Are you using the stock injectors? I would think watching the fuel pressure would tell ya if you need a bigger pump. One other thing you may want to ask Crockett about. I've heard there is a flaw in the fuel rail that can cause #7 to lean out. I know my 1997 has this flaw, but it was corrected around the time your 2000 was built. |
