boat being painted, re-upholstered and various surprises....already has a new 300xs with 12" stainless marine bracket and 25p trophyplus........more to come in following weeks----hopefully will be the nicest 24 around.

brian valery 01-08-2008 05:09 PM

what was the cost for the 24 hull?

I bought the whole boat, not just the hull...I dont know if you can tell from the pics but the boat is a 2002 step bottom----had a 300x------hocked it for a new 300xs

Pat McPherson 01-08-2008 08:01 PM

Nice!
Will she be just white or with some graphics?
Are you going with sit down buckets seats or stand & sit bolsters?
Good Luck with the project...

z.zuperboat 01-09-2008 05:44 AM

I dont know about the nicest around !! Bashes boat will be hard to beat !! Its pretty sweeeeeet .

Pat McPherson 01-09-2008 06:43 AM

I looked at the pics again and noticed the rub/bump rail and cleats are off.
I'd suggest you install a new stainless rail through bolted with the joint glassed from the inside similar to the way Rick had done some of the latest 30' Y2K.
Some pop up cleats would be nice too; not many 24s with those.
If you're redoing the interior, I suggest PPI in Florida. They have about the nicest high back buckets made.
If you need anymore help spending money, we are good at it...:D
Have Fun...:cool-smiley-011:

Already have pop-up cleats:cool-smiley-011: and Don Frost is doing the interior-----keeping the stand-up bolsters, just lowering them and installing an extended tilt helm so its more comfortable to drive sitting down-----I just prefer the bolsters when im cruising or hanging out bc im not confined to just sitting----the rubrail is just gonna be standard----I like the look of the screws and hate the look of stainless

I tried to lower the seat bottoms in my 24 like Zup but they were not going to swing without hitting the floor.

z.zuperboat 01-09-2008 10:35 AM

Pat so you thought destroying the entire boat would be better!! LOL

She looks great! Once I saw her sitting outside, I recognized the trailer. Thats my old boat and was very good to me! Enjoy!!!

GEORGE YURICK 02-11-2008 08:24 PM

i knew you would recognize the boat Gary....Kwells is taaking good care of her.....

guys the pics do this boat no justice....Rob did a Killer job....

RobF 02-11-2008 09:14 PM

I believe he had the windscreen made by Advanced plastics right here on long island.

it bolts to the existing fairing, we blacked out the lower part of it so you dont see the fairing behind it, you also dont see the black out looking from the front either.

its nice and thick- the biggest problem was he had to get new canvas made to go over it.

Cant wait to see the interior- he has some very classic ideas mixed with some modern twists.

Just got back from miami.........thanks for posting the pics Rob---you guys did an amazing job---yeah I had advanced plastic fabricators in hauppage do the wind deflector------it is the second one I had them make bc the first one I didnt match the curve to the deck and it looked like ****--------What the pics dont show is the new 300xs /stand off bracket/tie bars on the back courtesy of eastcoast marine performance
the interior will be very cool and I will post pics as soon as it is done.....also installing tilt helm, new wheel and new guage bezels.

K-WELLS 02-11-2008 11:25 PM

Gotta love the 24 with an outboard.....All the upside of boating with none of the downside

z.zuperboat 02-12-2008 05:55 AM

K if your happy with east coast thats great! Theirs now another outboard option in town. Speedmaster Marine !! Jimmy M and Michael D. I brought them pictures of a boat my freind was interested in that turns out to be setup all wrong. I called the guy and asked if it handled like they said it would and the owner said yes how did you know. Anyway I highly recommend them. Good luck with the boat iy looks great.

I have a few ideas to get around the canvas thing but am definately interested in the exact same design. KWELLS/RobF can you PM me a contact number/specs/price. Also if I were to call these guys would they have the specs still and be able to recreate it. Thanks

they made it out of 3/8" lexan and have the template stored in the CNC machine so they can just pop you out another one----the number is 631-244-3620. I also had them make me new, overlapping cabin doors that dont make noise all day out of opaque lexan---ill post pics when thats done as well.

K-Wells, Thanks for the information....saved me BIG time on that. Love the new paint and the other upgrades are going to be sharp. Can't wait for the pics!

I'd be REALLY interested in the cabin doors! Post some pics asap! Do they still have the templates for those as well? How much for a set?

FX10 02-12-2008 08:25 PM

Jay,
If needed, we could make them up for you. After all it is a Superboat. ;)

RobF 02-13-2008 07:25 AM

k-wells had thin, crappy starboard doors

the windshield is a nice piece, polished edges, cnc cut, etc.

just be sure to mock it up on the boat, mark it, and black out the bottom so you dont see the fairing behind it.

jayhawk261 02-13-2008 09:12 AM

My cabin doors look like they are made out of cutting board material. A buddy of mine said to leave them alone cause he had a place to cut limes up for the drinks! They are warped and clanky. I tried to have a new set made from aluminum, but they were going to be way too heavy! My next plan was to have some made from thicker lexan and have the front edge of the top panel fold over to hold the doors from moving around. It sounds like K-Wells got to it before me. if his are nice, I'd love to get a set.

Rick, what are you installing at the factory now? Are the doors different than what I currently have? I have already purchased latches. They are the same ones that Superboat is currently using. I also picked up a gas strut for the lid. I'm hardware ready, I just haven't gotten any doors yet.

Sorry if hijacking!

Stormrider 02-13-2008 10:26 AM

jayhawk, shoot me a PM w/ your email, and i can send you some pics of the door that my 24 had.
Plexi, clean and could hold weight.

My 24 had the same cheap doors and hatch.
I followed Superbash's lead and remade the hatch with 3/4" and it worked out well. I had planned to replace the doors this off-season, but, well...:party-smiley-004:
Another nice route was one taken by T-Island; Wood doors and hatch...:cool-smiley-011:
It would seem that Superboat had gotten a little cheap as far as these type of details in the mid 90s. The older boats had a nicer setup...
Maybe with Rick’s influence, the next 24s will have some upgrades in this area as well as other areas…:cool-smiley-011:

superboat1989 02-14-2008 08:40 AM

IMO I agree Pat its one area that could use improvement.
2002- Doors were twisted Starboard.
1989 had plexi doors- Straight in comparison and looked better.

GEORGE YURICK 02-17-2008 08:43 AM

i am taking My cabin doors off altogether and having a local canvas guy make me a Canvas door and a screen door that snaps in place....No more rattles and on the occasion that we wanna crash in the cabin the screen is great for some ventilation and NO BUGS...plus there alot lighter....

i like the windscreen but want something removeable....i like what i saw on i think it was the Zuperboat...small windflaps that are removeable....

Kwells has chosen the best on long island to do all the work on his boat....Raybo for paint and misc mods, Eastcoast for rigging and most other work, and from what i hear the interior is going to be incredible...

mattyboy 02-18-2008 07:35 AM

very nice!!! that's exactly what i would step up to out of my donzi classici my be i am a little biased :p but that boat has great classic lines and graphics or wild paint jobs would just get in the way again very nice I love it:D

my00b16si 02-18-2008 05:27 PM

hi there i stumbled across this post here, what seat height are you look for, allways trying to help!

Yep. I can stand on the hatch, and the only complaint I have on the doors, is that there's no snap or catch to keep them open. Although a couple straps and snaps can fix that. ;)

Storm, if you can't find any pics, I'm sure I could scrounge up a few. :cool-smiley-027:
