The desire; for such a task is understood and appreciated. Moreover; Safety over arrogant/ignorance anytime. I recommend planning and technical preparation surpass all ego.

Didn't read anything @ :http://forums.screamandfly.com/forum...d.php?t=155486
to suggest anything other than "SAFETY/SUCCESS FIRST". Please advise.

Best regards
JRadical

JR,

I agree with what you're saying. If you removed the words like "stupid" and "extremely stupid" etc., you will come to a realization that the underlying message is this:

* This is an extraordinary trip
* This trip is probably NOT inteded to be made with a 34 go-fast boat
* But if you continue to take on this challenge, take time to plan for safety
* And once you think you've got everything covered, rethink all of the "safety exits" again

To be honest, it took multiple reads of that forum before I personally came to this understanding.

Oh and there is a silver lining in that OSO forum, one that negated the negativity (for me) in that the individual who frequently sponsors the Whitbread race indicated that the trip that I'm planning is possible with the proper planning(as Rick indicated also).

JR, thanks for clarifying this.

Best,

Noli,
You right; I shouldn't have used such harsh adjectives. My apologies.:)

Actually; we considered the blue ribbon run about a 1 1/2 years back (Italy -> New york),
but dumped it because, as indicated, the rules changed after Branson made his run.
Also thought recently of hitting Bermuda; but it's out of reach; and to be honest scares
the crap out of me even w/proper equipment.
:boat:

I posted calculated eta, mpg, mph, distance etc. stating you can hit Ireland
with approx 3 full tanks of gas.

Regards to "Cap't Dark Matter".

JR, no need for apologies. It's all good.

noli 04-23-2008 06:51 PM

Rick, what's the latest with the 34? :D

FX10 04-23-2008 08:20 PM

We are waiting on 3 fuel tanks to get here. Then the fun begins.

The trip's work well. Suggest rig r/ready w/trips steering and all.
Remove the gear case on the center and stow it w/an extra.
Three spare starters as well and your good to go.
