Superboat Around the World(S.A.W.)

Just curious, are there any supers outside the US?? Continental or otherwise??

"Superboat Around the World" or SAW can be used this way:

I SAW a super 30 in Honolulu or

I SAW a 21 in Germany :)

Some may think that my plans to go to Greenland and Iceland and crossing the arctic circle is suicide. I think that with proper planning and having redundant electronics and having respect for oceans will guide me some how. And don't forget about the big guy above looking over us all the time.

Wait, you're going to cross the artic circle in a Supreboat?

noli 03-13-2008 09:47 AM

Yes I will cross the Arctic Circle but not really go deep into the arctic zone. If your vessel cannot cross the Atlantic Ocean, there are other routes to get to Europe. That passage consists of going North into Newfoundland, Baffin Island, Greenland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands. From there you then start heading south to Ireland, Portugal, Spain(Strait of Gibraltar), and the Mediterranean Sea.

I think I heard the RC Marine boat was in South America and I think the East Coast Marine boat went to Trinidad?

noli 03-13-2008 12:45 PM

was the RC boat a 30 super with twin 350 blocks mercruisers?

noli, when your not boating around the world, where would boat most ???:D

noli 03-13-2008 03:50 PM

After I sold my super 24, I started borrowing my dad's Grady White. I usually go out of Smithtown, North shore of Long Island. Then I head east to Block Island or Montauk
That's how I get my "Fix"

noli 03-15-2008 05:28 AM

Rick, has JC given you the ok to start the 34 yet? :D

FX10 03-15-2008 07:57 AM

Noli,
We pulled all the molds in Wed. I spent most of Friday cleaning up the deck mold. You have noooo idea how much moving was involved.

noli 03-15-2008 08:01 AM

Are the molds in good shape or will they need patching?

FX10 03-15-2008 08:12 AM

The molds are in great shape. They were stored in our shed out back, not left outside.

I saw a red 30 Tempest in St John, USVI, 2 years ago.

noli, I'm sure you will have loads of fun with your new 34' Superboat here in the states !!!!

noli 03-27-2008 06:16 PM

There are lots of awesome places in the US. I just want to mix travel and boating in other countries. And to acheive something a few folks can only dream about. I've dreamt too long. I want to do it. Now.

FX10 03-27-2008 07:00 PM

Noli, they aren't the only company out there.

noli 03-27-2008 07:06 PM

Rick, I love your positive outlook.
It was a test that I conducted just to see how easy it is to get free stuff. Apparently not easy at all. Besides, this 34 will never get off the ground if I depend on freebies. Good stuff cost money.:D

FX10 04-02-2008 07:25 PM

OK, heres a progress report.
The deck is complete. The hull is layed up and the foam coring is on the gull sides. Windscreen mold will be gelcoated tomorrow, and the transom was put in and glassed over today.
Tomorrow the stringers will start going in also.
Damn! This thing is coming together fast!

noli 04-02-2008 09:08 PM

Wow nice to hear it. Please continue with updates. You guys are movin' quickly on this one. :cool-smiley-011:

Superbabi 04-03-2008 06:25 AM

Rick, we can't wait to see noli's new 34' in person. See you soon !!!!

FX10 04-03-2008 03:59 PM

It's a BIG Mo Fo. Really big!

If its that BIG, noli better start thinking triples !!!!:D

noli 04-04-2008 09:33 AM

Initially I will go with twins just to maximize miles per gallon. Don't forget my round the world "thingy".

If that doesn't happen or if I do it and get the boat back safely, then triples it is.

I understand that most Superboat owners(actually 99.9999%) are speed freaks, but this one time I will have to think about making it to my destination with plenty of fuel still on reserve :)

But how big can this 34 be? You guys are forgetting my fortune cookie dream: "We're just twigs in the vast ocean" :D

Superbabi 04-04-2008 10:27 AM

noli, how about triples, keep the center motor off and trimed out of the water ??? Just in case you lose a motor on your long haul your spare will be just sitting waiting !!!:D

Superbabi 04-04-2008 10:35 AM

noli, think of it this way Twins..............

noli 04-04-2008 10:36 AM

You are awesome ! That is sooo funny!!! :)

:DTRIPLES !!!!!!:D:evilb::D

noli 04-04-2008 11:06 AM

This is not a fair decision for me to make.

If I chose the twins you guys will think I'm G*y.

If I choose the triplets my wife will kill me, probably first castrate me, then stab me, then hang me, THEN kill me :(

so I'm voting for twin Mercs. Gotcha!!

Gary, the motors are tie bared together, cant do that

Kims 04-05-2008 04:36 AM

My 34 is more fuel efficient after I installed the third motor... Make sure you have a radio with you that you can communicate on 121.5MHz, I will be watching you from above...
