the tempest and the Y2k are totally different boats....and the 300xs is not so great in my opinion....i am an outboard guy thru and thru but in the y2ks case i would just want a single big block....simple, fast and easy......unless of course it was a CC y2k then i would go with a pair of 200-250hp outboards since the utmost performance wouldnt be my top priority...again this is my opinion.....

A 30 CC' with twin 250's...I think that would be sweet!:evilb:

I actually like the regular y2k with the I/O more from a looks perspective....the swim platform makes it slope back more and gives it a sleeker look in my opinion

Well, the twin engine CC build got me thinking about other boats with twin outboards... looked around at some Powerplays, old Tempests and then I searched and came across this thread. Didn't know it had been done before... the photos of the rigged boat almost looks like it has 15" mids? If so, I personally think that it would look better with 20"...

Does anyone know how it handled compared to the i/o boats?... sounds like the speeds are there.

A set of 250xs motors would work great, I'd think. It shouldn't be too terrible on fuel at cruise when compared to the i/o boats?

Its winter- I'm just looking around and daydreaming some... wish it was spring already!

I was reading about that Tempest for sale over on S&F... guess it ran in the 90s with twin 300x motors?

If so, this y2k should have moved really well with the twin outboards.

I know that it was posted back in this thread that it ran in the 90s and was nose happy... I was kinda thinking that'd be the case.

The nose happy tempests had the 3 foot notch transom. The full length bottom boats with the 9 inch notch were not nose happy also not as fast. So the new bottom will should be great !

I'm guessing that there haven't been any o/b Y2Ks built with the new bottom? Just the CC, so far?
