That 24 looks familiar
Was that one on the SB website? I recognize the swim platform from somewhere. That's custom right?
|
Hey Mike,
They did have a link to my website, that is were you probably saw it. I bought it used last year from a guy in So. Jersey. |
how do you post a pic?
|
Underneath the box where you type in your message there is a box that says "attach file". Click on browse, the find the file you want to attach. There are size limits, so you may have to edit your picture.

Looks really nice Dave
Like that 24. What engine is in it? What are the options for I/O? How does it run? I have a house in South Jersey (Mystic Island across Great Bay from Atlantic City) and I live in N. Jersey. Where are you from?

I sold it a year ago but thought you might like this.
|
thanks, dave m. Hey, Super30, what power are you running on your boat and what kind of speed do you see? My '98 '24 with a 26" lab finished 3 blade and a '98 merc 300 would do low 70's. I think if I still had it I would preop down to a 25" four blade.
|
Hey Mike,
I have a 454 Mag (385 HP). Last year with a 25 Mirage Plus my best was 75.3 gps. I just got my prop pitched up to a 26. I've ran it twice this year and i'm thinking I should of stayed with the 25. We'll see. I'm looking for a 24 & 26 4 blade to try too. It has k-planes, mechanical indicators, gaffrig gauges, silent choice, external steering. I run mostly on the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. I may take her up to Jersey this year. My sister lives in Brick. I grew up in Sayreville. Dave M. |

just figured this picture thing out.
Eddie Simmons checking in Superboatusa.com |
DAVE M - I picked up a 4 blade Hydromotive 24 - Thinned & balanced by Hydromotive -- Haven't tried it yet .... still ice on our lake... but I'll let you know how it works.... I currently run a 25 Mirage solid hub which has been "labbed"... I like it better then the 25 Mirage Plus... 2-3 mph faster.... I turn it 5600 rpm's... no... my 454Mag is no longer stock... boat runs 89 on the stock Speedo.... 84 and change on a handheld GPS ....;)
|
Hey GRH,
I tried a Hydromotive last season. If I recall it was a 26. My RPM's were about the same as the 25 Mirage Plus, I could trim it to the moon but I got less top end. How much HP are yor running? Dave M. |
DAVE M - prop news doesn't make me too happy... I expected to lose a couple mph. but thought i'd get better trim response? Should be interesting... my boat is pre-step so I think I do a little better with the Mirage vs the mirage plus... as for the motor it dynoed 499.8hp @5600rpm's... turned in a nice 525lbs of torgue @4400rpms' ... boat can be a handful over 80... but you get used to it!

Interesting question for older Superboat owners
My boat is a 1979 repainted with 1998 power and lots of rerigging. New interior coming in a few weeks. (Just ordered Allison high back buckets).
Anyway, what did a 1979 21 Superboat cost new? I paid $8500 for my hull only last August and spent about $3000 on it since. I'll bet that's about 3 times what a hull cost new back in 79 right??? |

at100plus,
I am running 2.4 carbs, with 26 pitch lab finished choppers. My best speed to date is radard 87 at 8000 rpm. The motors are balanced and worked up a bit. It is a 91 hull Kevlar light layup with a two foot notched transom. It truly is a SUPERBOAT!!! |

This is my buddy's 24. It ran 74 on a good day with a 300 V8 Big Johnson. He sold it and it now resides in the State of Washington.

Wow facelift
You can't even tell that's the same boat!
|
same???
Mike I put a fiberglass fairing from a tempest on it last summer-it looks even cooler now.John popped one out before they trashed all the old 30 deck molds. What a difference. The hull is an 82,but was solid as a rock. Its got balsa cored decks and foam bulkheads- Its been alot of work, but it came out awesome-I hired out the glass work only at the transom(now 4" thick with 24" stringers where the motor bed was to anothe 1.5" bulkhead aft of the rear seat.We probably over built it but I'm alot happier being safe than sorry,Especially when offshore hard....Hey,yours looks sweet too,I've never ridden in a 21.It looks wild!:D :D :D

I'm going to have to help this thread, come on guys!

I hope the owners of these boats don't mind that I'm posting for them. Here are some nice Superboats:
This first one is really original. I saw it on the Perf Boat Club of Canada website. |
Another from PBCC site

This one is really cool

This used to belong to Joe L on Long Island. He sold it without the power. Twin Pro Max 225s very nicely rigged. I think it ran just over 100. The new owner Still Crazy is doing a nice job rerigging, and has plans for a 300X maybe next year.
|
Mike,
These boats look like Image Shadows. I agree the wood treatment is neat. Kind of reminds me of the Challenger's teak treatment, only better. |
Still Crazy
Boat looks great. Do you boat off Long Island ? Would love to see that 21 in person. Good luck this summer. Jack L |

Jack L,
I live in Northeastern Ohio and take my "Beatings" on Lake Erie. The boat has been somewhat neutered for now with a '97 2.5 200 EFI. Looking to re-fit it with a 300 or 300X PM when I can sneak it past my wife. |
hehehehe
I'm glad to see that somebody elses wife is in the I hate speedboats club also.Mine used to hit me on the side of the head with the 24/1-200.Then I rigged it with twins and the beatings stopped. She wouldn't let go of the bolster long enough to swing at me.I think she's only been in the 30 twice in 6 years.......:D :D :D stick
|
Hey guys, nice rides I've always been a fan of Superboats, I looked at a 30' at the factory 3 years ago. Stick4406 great looking boat I'm always looking for an older 30' I/O to restore but only see outboads for sale were did you find yours? I see your from Mass. I live in Maine, do you ever boat on Winnipesaukee. If so maybe we could hook up sometime.

Where's all the pictures?
I'm waiting.

30
Mine came from Remsenburg marine on long island.Ibought just the hull. The motor had dropped a valve on a test drive for another buyer and they wanted to bail...It supposedly was equipped w/a 482 blower motor.I belive there was also a speedmaster in it also but I had them take all the i.o. stuff out before I picked it up.It did have the bigfoot k-planes on it though. I've never been on the and I've only been near it twice in my life. Although I would like to run up there I'm alittle worried about the noise regs w/offshore housings.....:D :D :D
