not to hijack your thread, But the ? was how much horsepower would it take to move an early y2k w/a # 5 sm to 75- 80 mph? so far the suggestion is a 525 Thanks

My boat has an early Y2K bottom. I converted from a bravo to a #5 added 75hp and lost speed. If the prop shaft height is rite and the prop is the rite diameter my guess would be 650. Mine went 84 with 625 and mine is about 1000lbs under the standard hull weight. You need another 100 hp to compesate for the drag of the trans/drive plus the weight. I know pretty much all the supers around and only 3 with #5 drives and none are Y2K,s

That's good info thanks, I had a feeling it may take more due to weight and drag etc... Anyone else comments, ideas? As for the other hmmm! there is 1 atleast!
