Holy Cow! 88+mph, That is fast!
So what is that fastest 24' Superboat of all time?
Hey FX10, Have you guys ever run a step and non-step 24' side by side with the same power?
JMK and I have run together a few times. His 2002 with 320HP/6.2 was faster than my 1997 with 310HP/7.4, but not by much. I'm thinking because of the weight difference as much as anything...

Hey Pat
While we're on this subject. Do you notice a difference in ride in a confused chop between you (non step non pad )& JMK (step pad). I was just reading on the Sunsation forum about a 28 step pad's handling situation like mine does. It seems to wanna wander around in this frequent type of sea compared to strait vee. Stepp hull bad. Vee good.

Hey Superbash,
I have only ridden in a step 24' (JMK's) one time and it was a calm evening on the river; so I can't give first hand info as to it's rough water feel.
It would make sense that a stepped, pad bottom would not track as straight in random rough water though.
FX10 has not answered my question yet, but I can share info and knowledge that others have told me.
As for a speed difference between the two, there is little if any difference.
GRH's boat ran 73mph with a stock 365HP/454Mag carb engine on fresh water.
Dutra runs 74mph with a 385HP/454Mag MPI. Dave M. has hit a best of 75mph with the same power and they both run in salt water.
1-2mph difference? Naaaa...
Side by side I believe they would run together.
A step in a boat that daces on the last 2' of the hull will do nothing, the pad might???
Think we might stir up the pot with this one Bash...

Tripps
-This thread was from 4/02...2 1/2 years ago! I dug it up cause of the similarities of the 24 "RumRunner" 4 sale (sounds like a boat for you!).
Pat
-Yes...I am not into the step thing...more harm than good...pad may help over 80 in flat water.
