I know I dont have a superboat, but I am a big fan of the cabin door with teh molded steps for getting up onto the bow. The girls all want a door on the cabin. I want to install something like that on my Kryptonite so I figured I would ask around here first, as these are the ones that come to mind first.

What are the measurements of the cabin door opening on the Superboat y2k's? I dont have the measurements of mine right now, but am curious whether the stock door would fit or not. Does anyone have one laying around not being used that they would be willing to part with in the off chance that it would fit? I have played with the idea of using the superboat mold and modifying it to fit my opening as well, but I would then need to get my hands on the mold, or have someone do it for me. Let me know what the Superboat crowd thinks.

I have 1 in stock. But. I can tell you now, it won't work. The hatch step tapers from around 16" down to around 12". Now you need the flange for it. To much work. And as for using the deck mold to make that part. I can pretty much guarantee Coen won't even entertain the idea.

Yea I figured it wouldnt fit, but I was hoping anyway. I will get the measurements when i get back home in a month or so. Right now I am crossing the Atlantic, so the boat is somewhat out of my reach at the present time. Maybe I could make my own mold. I completely understand that Coen wouldnt like that idea much, just figured I would give it a shot.

Mike (Zuperboat) installed a Y2K step/hatch, and did all his own glass work , and you would swear it came from the factory.

used to be Lightspeeds Krypto. He sold it to Tim (T-Islands), who in turn sold it to me last April. Fantastic rigging and setup. Too bad I dropped a valve in August in the 598ci JCPerfomance motor.

I will figure something out, I just wasnt sure if the tried and true design that Superboat had would work for me too.

How many hours were on the motor?

You could always get in touch with Superboat Bob, and have him fabricate one of our steps to fit for you. He's one of the best in the business at fabricating things. Let me know if you want his #

I had 58.5 hours on it. Running in a light chop, passing 5500rpm and 90mph accelerating hard when it felt like someone threw the brakes on and the motor bogged. I have run the motor up to 6300rpm with no issues, it has solid lifters. Dropped an intake valve, which in turn broke off at the guide, proceeding to destroy the piston and bend the exhaust valve before passing over the intake to the opposing cylinder and bouncing around in there. All within a span of 1-2 seconds. Jeff (JCPerf) said the head can be fixed, but the motor will have to come apart for a new piston(s). Luckily, it doesnt appear to have scored the cylinder walls at all.
