24 Stepbottom Fuel Level Sender
 

Where in the tank is the fuel level sender on a 2000 24 Stepbottom? My guys has been looking and looking and hasn't been able to locate it by eyeballing. Is it way up underneath the floor where it can't be gotten at?

Either live without a gauge or cut the floor.

Why would they do that? I guess it needs to be in a specific place in the tank, but you'd think an access panel in the floor would be in order! Thanks for the info Pat!

It may not be that bad.
The sender may be under the back seat. The seat comes out easily.
You can cut in one of those plastic inspection ports and it will be covered when you replace the back seat.
Time for a flashlight and tape measure.

I could have sworn on my 24 if you lifted the back seat cushion off, pulled out the storage insert, that you could see the sending unit for the tank. I thought it was glassed over and all that you could see was the metal connector that the wire connected to. I could be wrong, but thats what I remember it being like

You had an outboard. Right?

It is screwd to the floor and bolted to the side panels.

Yes, not familiar with the IO set up

Same tank, but is located further forward in the IO version. If you have a yard stick or something like that. You can slide it along the center of the tank till you come in contact with the sender. Then measure how far in you need to cut the hole. A inspection plate can be put over the hole. The outboard version had the sender under the rear seat storage locker.
