Its not working out for this coming weekend.. I don't have time to get everything together. Looks like its going to be the 16-18th. I hope we can get some hours on the boat this fall.. I've hardly been on the water, busy year with lots of job stuff.

Awesome project Nick! Glad to hear you are going to get the performance you were after. The setup looks really nice.

Enjoy it this fall and we can put these boxes full of sound system components in it this winter. Nothing like some loud tunes to harmonize with blower whine. :evilb:

Give me a call when you are ready.
Adam

Well, I ran a little shakedown run of my own..

It ran just a fuzz over 88gps in a light wind chop and was rock steady/ very easy to drive. Against the rev limiter hard with the 5600 chip turning a 29Mirage (about 13% slip). This hull loves the mirage prop but I'm going to have to spring for a 29+ and probably have it worked up in pitch as close to a 32 as I can. Also, after talking to Jason, I going to raise the rev limiter.

The bad- I had a rocker loosen up- nothing hurt. Took it back over and Jason checked everything out. Can't wait to run it again.. espically with a bigger wheel!

I'll get some pics of the dash, but we just worked with what was there, so its messy looking (but solidly wired).

The stereo that Adam put it turned out awesome, thou.. I'll get pics of everything after I clean it up some- taking care of a few other things on the list first.

Its been boring in Superboat land lately... might as well update the 24s thread:

First order of business was ordering a oil t-stat from CP since my oil temps were way too low last fall. I was checking out the oil routing and I'd have routed the oil differently than what it was... it went from the block to the cooler, then to the filter, back to the block. The major problem (besides cold oil being harder to filter) is my temp sensor is in the oil filter housing.. so it was reading the oil temp after being cooled. I plan on routing it to the filter first, then t-stat, then cooler, back to the block.

It also was traveling the same direction as the water, so cooling wasn't quite as efficent as it could have been- in theroy. Not an issue with this motor.

Oil t-stat:

Its frinkin big! I wanted to mount it on the motor, but nothing
was going to work well, so I made a stainless bracket from
some scrap at work and installed it on the transom:

Somewhere between getting all the work done on it and
moving stuff in and out of the boat, I lost my anchor light. I've
been wanting to get a led one, so I can leave it on all night
while sleeping and not kill a battery.

I bought an Attwood that fits 95% of all bases and of course
mine is one of the 5% it doesn't fit. So got new base too:

The bow light had a small crack in it, and I've seen this led
one before while looking around. Thought it might look good on the 24 as a
replacement:

Looks good! Man, do I wish I had a garage big enough to fit my boat.

Just got done cleaning everything on the outside of the boat and waxed everything- even the old trailer. Bearings are packed tires and tires inflated. Still gotta clean the vinyl and the bilge...

Over the past winter, Adam Shook installed a nice little stereo that we planned on a long time ago... finally got around to getting it over to his place (right before he moved to FL).

Got some pics of the stereo setup...here is the reciever and aux/usb ports:

Ended up going with 4 polk 6x9s in the existing speaker holes and two wired remotes on the port side and transom.

10" sub and the amps behind the dash.. getting crowded back there. Adam's stereo wiring is really nice. The dash wiring is pretty busy- I just worked with what I had there..

After Adam finished up, Kevin Brown picked up the boat to fill the push button start hole that was on the front side of the dash.. the location just wan't working out since I brace my knees against the dash at times. Also, I can reach around to the key easy enough. He color matched the gel which is kinda $, but now we have it on file for any future gel work. Can't even tell it was there..

I'm really happy with everything.. stereo sounds great, dash hole filled in nicely, and motor runs pretty good.

Its mostly done just have a few more things on the list I'd like to do eventually as I can.. I really need to upgrade the drive.. then maybe I'll kick around buying a new trailer.

Dave M 05-21-2012 08:11 AM

Good job!

noli 05-21-2012 08:40 AM

.

looks like an awesome job.

if you put your knee up on against the fiberglass, hows about putting a piece of cushion there.

I also like the radio controls in the rear for when you're hangin' out at the swim platform...cool job!
