Man that is a total cap off restoration project and worse then a Checkmate I did a few winters ago.
Not worth any more then what the motor and trailer value is considering the amount of work involved in mkaing it right.

Wow!

The whole boat's gotta be re-gutted

I would cut the deck off

then ask Rick how deep to slice the inside surface skin, and begin restoration.

If I were to do it, I'd rebuild using hi-density foam instead of balsa, then vacuum bag the whole hull

as for the transom, I would use kokum wood (not sure of spelling), a very dense wood that can handle lots of compression.

like he said, I'd just be buyin' the motor, rigging, and trailer.

Thanks for sharing the pics with the meter GY!

Rough crowd in here... Its like this, for the comment that "after the repairs you still have a boat worth nothing" These boats ain't coming back guys... Unfortunetly if you want a nice vintage ANYTHING you either pay the piper, and buy one for an absurd amount, thats been restored, (and hope its been done right) Or you buy one like this, and restore/rebuild yourself.. No don't get me twisted. I DO NOT know the buyer or the boat. Yes, 12k seems high for what it is, and I, myself would not pay that much, but it is what it is... Back in the early eighties when I was messing with cars, I thought $1500 was a little high for a then sort of rough 68 camaro less motor.. Now a clapped out six cylinder none ss first gen camaro rotted out from azzhole to appetitie will run you 5k+ for a pile of ****, if you can even find one for that! Hell even less disirable bodys like malibus, novas, and montes going for stupid numbers even in this economy.. Why?? Because there not going to be around forever and there for sure not coming back!! Now to compare workable first gen camaros to how many first gen 24 Superboats (72-86) are still around?? Apples to oranges becuase there really were not that many in the first place.. So the question is how bad do you want a bad-azz vintage hot rod boat?? Hell, you can buy a new 24 Pantera for maybe 70K?? Maybe dropping $7500 in a wet hull with a decent motor isn't that bad an idea for those willing to put in a lot of hardwork and shop correctly, hopefully when your said and done break-even. Like I said, these boats and others like it form the 70's and 80's aint coming back!! Either put the work in fellas or bust out a tall stack of big heads!

I currently own this boat, you guys are right, its a piece of crap. I put it on CL just for the hell of it and I did mistakenly put optimax in the ad. I'm hoping to hit the lottery like the guy who sold it to the previous owner, if that doesn't happen the hull is going to the landfill and I'll put the motor on another hull. The boat is cracked all over, the rigging is junk, and the bow is all delaminated. I can't see how it would be worth it to restore.
It looks good from 50' away but when you look close its all junk like the pictures show.

George,
What can you tell me about the boats history? It seems like someone put some money into it in the last 10 years. The guy I bought it from only owned for a couple of months and didn't know anything about it.

???? So you aren't disclosing the issues to people that come to look at it? Or you are just hoping somebody will buy it despite the issues for close to what you are asking?

I'm hoping somebody will buy it despite the issues, I'm not holding my breath for anything close to my asking price. If I don't sell it its no skin off my back since I'm still using it and the motor alone is worth what I paid for it

I think I've been pretty honest with everybody who has responded to the craigslist ad... when I first went and looked at it I drove all the way to Long Island and was so disappointed with its condition I didn't even make an offer on it. It was a wasted trip, and I don't want that to happen to someone else
