Haven't seen or heard of any superboat builds in a long time!
When was the last boat popped? Has to be at least a couple years since the last y2k??? If I wanted one is it still possible???????
I talked to JC about 4 yrs ago for a blank 24, but decided to go used at the time
Is he still ready willing & able or in margaritaville?
Sorry for the ???????s I was just wondering if anyone talks to him and what's up??????

scarab63 04-20-2013 03:44 PM

That's great news! I was starting to think superboat was done.
Got any pix?

Biggus 04-20-2013 04:29 PM

I talked to John on Wednesday while working on Long Island. Superstrom Sandy made a mess of the rigging shop but he said he's been busy with 21' orders. He sounded very upbeat and is looking for a glass guy at the moment.

BTW, if you're looking for a Y2K, he's got a hull and deck ready for rigging.

scarab63 04-20-2013 04:47 PM

Considering a y2k, 28sr, activator (rage )30 all unrigged.
I'm really digging the rage 30!!!!
Thanks

Are you gonna be racing your new boat?

scarab63 04-21-2013 08:45 AM

Ya if I got any cash left over afterwards

fastedy 04-22-2013 06:34 AM

if your looking to race, get one or get beat by one, how many world and national championships in a 30?

dba900 04-22-2013 11:46 AM

What kind of numbers are the new-bottom Y2Ks running with 550-600 HP? I hope to pick one up some day...some day

Lol....I know. Figure I'd take a leap of faith.
I do wonder how a y2k & a rage 30 would stack up head to head with let's say 750/xr.
You can't argue that the activator/rage are bad rides.

The Activator/Rage would be faster . Probably around 96-99 mph but would blow XR's every 50 hours from resurfacing the drive . The Y2K would run 89-92 but would out corner and keep the drive sub surface . .

Flat water Activator/Rage . 2' or bigger or race situation Y2K walks away ..

There's not many boats that can turn as well as a 30 Superboat. It is a big advantage when racing.. From the pictures I've seen of the new Rage looks like a good looking boat. Mark always built a great boat!!

Why. The 28 rage is 22* but I think the 30 is 24* deadrise right?
That basically makes the rage and y2k very similar hulls

There not even close to the same Rage is 8' wide. A y2k is 7' wide. How is that the same?

scarab63 04-22-2013 08:59 PM

The rage is 30x7, 24* deadrise, twin step so......
Just wondering about deep V, pad, notch.....that's where they differ

OCCJoe 04-22-2013 09:00 PM

Here we go ! The Y2K doesn't have the rite steps to make speed like the Activator . Look at the size of the steps on the Activator they look like their about 6" deep and there's a couple Activators with only 800hp that run 103-105 ..Look at the size of the steps in the OL29 SV and the degree change and that boat runs the same speed as me with only a stock 525. .All three boats weigh the same but that being said I'll take you out in the Y2K and put it in a corner at 80mph that you wouldn't put a car in . The Y2K is like a ferrari on water .

I know the Papa Duke boys went swimming a couple of time in that 30 Actavtor they raced. I was racing in the race when they got thrown out in the first turn and it was in a lake!!!That can't be fun.

Did heavens gates just open and Jr tell me I was right about something .

Mako 25 04-22-2013 09:40 PM

Big steps

The boats with the big steps seam to either throw you out, spin out , or roll over in turns. That's way may father sacrificed speed for handling when designing bottoms!!

You and rick are gonna find out real soon when you start building boats, that there is more money doing that on the street. I can't wait. That's why I don't build boats!!!:lolhit:

Biggus 04-23-2013 06:49 AM

Well, given the title of this thread "doors open?"

-Is Activator still building boats? Great boats also but have not heard or seen anything since Angelo was building at the MRD facility. If they are sill in operation, where are they located?

scarab63 04-23-2013 07:25 AM

They are going by "rage" now and are in new London ct. Mark & rich are running it now. The 27 mold is over seas

Don't know about that ! Got here last night , looked around , took some pictures . Haven't seen Coen yet , tried both shops . Glass shop looks the exact same as it did when I was here in November . Blue Y2K has no upholstery and the drive still isn't on it . Red Y2K has the motors On the back of it but its still not rigged . The 21 that Rick layed up last year is still in the mold and hasn't been popped out yet . And Coen's 30cc hasn't been cleaned or fixed sence it sunk at the fire Island padget . And the place smells like piss !
Gonna try and get back over there again today or tomorrow .

Sorry bout the footprints on that twin scoop hatch setting under the window . You ought to take that single scoop sitting there with it and mount it on the Mako . And the gate was open and I didn't see any no truss passing signs so I hope I didn't break any laws .

Joe how bout we make a deal!! Since I say I don't know how to build a boat or run a boat. I will build a boat not used new. You and rick can build what ever you want new or used. We race class 5 OPA next year. You can even use your 30 because that might be your only chance you have.We will make the bet what you think is fare. I'm even willing to beat for boats. One ocean race or high points for the season. LET ME NO. Be a man and lets run...

Mako 25 04-26-2013 01:02 AM

Boat race

Let's see what a man you are.
