30 style deck on the 24
Now that SuperBoat has redesigned the 30 and 34 when do you think we'll a 30 style deck and integral swim step on the 24? I'm a West Coast boater looking to move into a mid 20' offshore sport boat. Something for the larger lakes here, like Powell and Mead, and possible weekends at Catalina. The only West coast boat of any fortitude is the new 30' Schiada with a cockpit liner. I heard Lee is coming out with a new 25'. Maybe I'll just have to get that if SuperBoat doesn't re-tool their 24.

Hey Hottrodder,
I don't know if there are any plans in the works for the 24. As a 24 owner, It is the classic lines that appeal to me. I don't care for intergrated platforms or rounded decks. I would like to move up to a 30 but I think I would like the new bottom with the old deck. I guess everybody has an opinion. Good luck in your boat search. Boat shopping sure is fun! Dave M. |
I agree with HOTTRODDER, I prefer the old deck on the 30 as opposed to the new one
|
OOPS I ment to say Dave ...
|
I would have to agree with the 2 Superboat owners. I like the older style deck better. Maybe we could convince Mr. Coen to offer the older style deck as well as the modern style on his new 30' hull. Looking through the Superboat gathering pics., I think the 30' I/O was a great looking ride.
I'm still looking for a 24' I/O, I may have to break the bank and buy a new one. |
hey pat, that guy with the white 30 might be 4sale,hes my buddy,it runs very well 85+ tripps
|
Who's got pics of the new 34??? I heard they were here, but I can't find 'em???
|
Hey Sean,
Got to the Superboat gathering pics. You may have to set your view older than the default of ten days, try 30. |
I was just looking at the SuperBoat gathering pics. Great!! But I'm a little dissapointed. The 30 gets a complete redesign. The 34 and 21 have new decks. But nothing for the 24? Something must be in the works. Come on SuperBoat afficionados give it up.

I think the 24 is the best selling model. Why change it? I have a few minor changes I would like to see too, not with the lines of the deck though.

hi all
i dont think john will ever change the 24 it a classic the 30 tempest deck mold is history the new 21 is going to be hot iam thnking about getting one for next season pat let me know when you are coming down ill meet you at superboats sean ill try to email some pic's in the next few day of the 34 we have some great shot's of it running (iam driving it by the way) ill tell ya it was choppy and it rode great jim h |
OK, I got the scoop from the man himself. I visted Superboat Saturday and spoke to John. The 24' is not changing any time soon its' a classic that has been around since the 60s. As for the 30', he sold 9 boats the first year he changed the deck design vs. only 2 boats the three years prior to changing. I guess the modern look is in.
Just missed you Jim, sorry about your engine, at least it's under warrenty |
Hey Pat,
So, did John talk you into a 30? :D |
No Dave, He was trying to sell me his demo 24. Maybe you should buy Eddie's 30' and sell me yours.

Darn
I'm sorry to hear that. I really wanted my next boat to be a Superboat. The few friends that I have that are into bigger boats rave about their build quality and I like the fact that they only carry a 7' beam. On the 24' thats gotta mean something like 20 sq/ft less of friction area not to mention the weight savings. But I just can't get my eyes around that deck. I grew up on the West coast custom scene and still like that sleek, smooth look. However, I can understand John's desire to retain the integrity and history of this boat. That's part of the reason that regardless of what 'big' (no laughing now) boat I have, I'll always have the flatbottom parked next to it.
