Got the glass off the transom. Bottom is very wet. Will let dry for a bit and see what we have cut out and replace.

the deck will be stripped and repainted, new gauges will be installed, obviously new transom , engines are being rebuilt as I type now, Gill brackets are being repaired and powder coated , a bunch going on. More to come. !!!

Looking forward to seeing the final product. Registration just opened up for Powerboating for the Cure in Norfolk VA. Also, the Richmond to Norfolk fun run will be a good one. What is your schedule like this year? Are you doing Rockin the Harbor?

Hey Blake.....Our schedule is a bit up in the air....obviously the boat redo is going slower than expected, with the crazy world we are in now going to watch finances a lot closer, regarding Rockin The harbor, I am not spending money to run my own waters. We want to go to the Lake Hartwell Run in June. Will certainly do the Hudson Run (of course), will definitely do the Toys Tour run in December (as usual), The rest is kind of a guess right now. I hope we get to see you guys soon.

Update.....as of today (5/18/2023) the Stainless Marine engine bracket is finished and being shipped to me....Finally we can start getting this boat back together. It will take some time as I am changing a bunch of the rigging setup that was in the boat originally, changing gauges, painting the deck, and fixing some minor chips on the bottom of the boat. Hoping for a June 30th completion...we will see. I will add photos as me move forward.

New stainless marine bracket to be installed that will carry a pair of Mercury Racing 300xs engines. Now receiving components we move forward ….going to be a long road till completion.

Chris, you are going to love the Stainless bracket compared to the Gils. I did the same thing on my 33 Sonic years ago and it was so much better. The flotation it adds to the stern and characteristics of getting on plane will be drastically improved. I like what you are doing. :nicethread:
BTW, did you sell the 225 ProMaxes already?

Charlie, yes I’m excited for the changes. I’ve heard a ton of positives regarding the stainless bracket. Those old Gill brackets had to go. The one 225 block was toast. The other is still at Dave’s shop in Florida and I’ll get back from him shortly. So I’ve got one 225 newly rebuild power head which is definitely for sale.

Looks good! I had issues with those SM access covers leaking on my previous boat. I was going to install a one way drain plug but I ended up not keeping the boat.

BTW, I heard that Specialized was for sale. That would be a cool boat to own too!

We’re getting closer. Transom is done , we’ve laid out our lines for the bracket…within the coming week we will have bracket mounted and engines hung !!! Added panels on the inside of the bilge to mount all the pumps. Will be much cleaner

Stainless bracket mounted …also installed the custom aluminum plate on the inside of the transom for full weight distribution….this thing is going to be badass when finished. Just making an amazing boat better !!!

Are there no knee bracing the transom to the hull designed into that boat?

We will be reinstalling all the original bracing back into the boat. We’ve only made it stronger with the addition of the aluminum plate inside….boat already had a aluminum plate on the outside of the transom.

Engines are hung and even got the cowlings polished and ceramic coated. Now the fun begins with rigging and redoing the dash, then painting the deck…making headway!!!
