Hi Dave,

Did you buy the insert from John?
I did...
I thought I'd screw it in too.
If it is to be glassed in, it just went to the bottom of my list.

You may be able to screw it in but I it may crack. I have some pictures that JMK406 gave me that shows the detail of the glass work. It doesn't look to hard to do and it is done in an area behind the dash where you will not see it anyway. So, it doesn't have to be the prettiest job. I got the insert from John. I called him today and he said to use two layers of 1.5 oz mat around the edges. It's cutting that BIG-ASS hole that I am afraid of!

Dave, if those pictures are digital, it would be great if you could send me a copy. You are probably right about the cracking, I'll glass it in.

Does anybody know how the fairing is attached? I wonder if the screws that go around the fairing to snap the canvas cover on hold the fairing on too?

The screws with the snaps do hold on the fairing

Hey Dave, Have you pulled your fairing off yet?
I was cleaning and waxing last night and the last owner made a mess of the seam between the fairing and the deck. He put all kinds of caulking to fix a leek I'm assuming.
I think the best way to fix it would be to pull the fairing off completely.
Wanted to know how big of a pain in the ass it is.

Not yet, I think I am just going to band-aid it for now. The weather is putting my task list way behind. I do have around 15 hours on the boat already.

I hear you Dave,
It's allot more fun using the boat then working on it.
