Pat McPherson 07-10-2003 07:21 PM

Hi tripps,
If I come down to Long Island Friday, it will be after 7pm when my wife gets out of work. I have been corrected, her cousin actually lives in Baldwin. No, unfortunately they do not have a waterfront home. If I was to come down Friday night, I thought it would make it easier to hook up with you fellows Saturday morning.
I just e-mailed JMK4060 to find out what his plans are. If you have not corresponded with him before, he is the lucky guy that bought John's demo 24' this past Winter. I still have not gotten my commission from John yet. I'm joking of course. I have kind of pissed off Joe at Pantera though. Justin lives in the next town over from me.
Anyway, Justin had talked about making the trip by water. We would have to leave Friday night, stay on your side of the Sound over night, then go through the canal Saturday morning. I think Peconic offered to lead us down to Fire Island from there. I think it is a long shot that we would come by water, but we'll see what Justin has to say.
I will definitely be asking for your assistance when the time comes. Thanks !!!

Peconic 07-10-2003 08:37 PM

Patrick: It's always easier to make the trip in the morning. If the weather cooperates, we could do the Shinnecock-Babylon route "on the outside" (ocean.) I'll definitely lead you. You could even tie up at my dock overnight (Quogue, Shinnecock West) and then we'll cast off in the morning. Dock is a bit crowded because of the floatlift, but we'll find a spot.

White Trash will splash tomorrow (Friday) for testing and propping. It's still missing a cabin and the rear seats, but who needs them.

We expect somewhere between 85 and 89, which would be amazing with "just" a 525. We'll see.

Today, a Kryptonite with a blower motor (it's the red white & blue one) broke the sound barrier at 100mph. It's at MRD.

Pat McPherson 07-10-2003 08:49 PM

Hey Peconic,
Thanks for the offers, we'll see if JMK wants to go by land or sea? If I'm alone, I will trailer down.
Do you know Holden Kramer? I probably spelled his name wrong. He hooked me up with my Superboat. He said he hit 101 in his Kryptonite with his 700+HP 600cube. I visited his shop last Winter and saw that big bad motor. I think he is running an HP500EFI in it now.
Good Luck Tomorrow!!!

Peconic 07-10-2003 11:33 PM

Pat: Holden is a friend of Kirk's. What you heard is true. We know of three Kryptonites within driving distance that hit the sound barrier. I'll do a write-up on the 3 bad boys after things have settled in with White Trash.

Dutrasystem 07-11-2003 06:44 AM

Holden is a good man. Hes bailed me out of trouble once or twice. Great HP Mechanic as well! He does it all. He sold the 700HP motor still has the Kryp, runs low 80s with 500 EFI ..

Pat McPherson 07-11-2003 08:43 PM

Hey Dutrasystem, Get Holden to come to Superfest...

Pat McPherson 07-12-2003 08:29 AM

Peconic,
Hope all is well with your new ride. :D:D
I have not heard back from JMK if he would like to venture by water to Superfest. I may have another boat willing to make the trek. The odds are getting better.
I called the canal yesterday to get some info, the guy told me we could go through just about any time.
Tripps wrote that he planned on getting started around 1. Have you thought about what time you would be leaving your house?
I will not be able to get underway Friday night until after 7pm so I'm thinking Greenport or Sag for the first leg. Then we could get to the canal Saturday morning.
How long does it take to get through? I don't want to hold you up so weather permitting, we can be there by 8-9am.
Do you know of anyone else coming from the east?
OH-Zone you out there??
Anyway, plenty of time to come up with a plan.
Thanks Again, and have a great weekend with your new toy.

Peconic 07-12-2003 12:59 PM

Patrick: The lock is no big deal at all. It's well lit and easy to navigate.

Shinnecock Bay can get much trickier at low tide.

If you tie up oin Greenport or Sag, then I can pick you (and whoever's coming along) on at your side somewhere and run you on to the festivities.

Low tide at Ponquogue bridge will be 12:45 pm, so we better leave earlier than later. 8 or 9 at the lock should be just fine.

Note: You can usually overnight in Sag at the town dock, although I don't know about Friday night. If you arrive there late and simply tie up, then they'll collect in the morning....

Peconic 07-12-2003 01:01 PM

Kirk Rogers will probably come to Superfest, and where he is, Holden usually is not far away.

z.zuperboat 07-13-2003 08:15 PM

IS ANYONE GOING TO THE POKER RUN THIS SATURDAY AT STRONGS MARINE. TRIPPS AND MYSELF ARE THINKING OF IT. ALL THE DETAILES ARE NOT KNOWN YET. $125 TO ENTER.TRAILER OUT AND SPLASH OUT THERE.

Peconic 07-14-2003 07:43 PM

Ok, guyz: Engine computer has been flogged into submission by yours truly. Today was much better. We hit the rev limiter at 5450 and still had a ways to go in the throttle. Getting a bigger prop tomorrow. Superfest, here we come!

Also talked to Jim Capie today, who had fallen off the side of the earth. He had been abducted by aliens and woke up in Hicksville, West Virginia. When I talked to him, he was on I85, going East. He'll be at Superfest!

tripps 07-14-2003 08:47 PM

Hey guys I'm in big trouble!!! out sunday and one motor broke :( :( :( ,but im already workin on it ,have another powerhead for it and i will make Superfest!!! Funny, same thing happened last year,2 weeks before superfest, broke a motor    Saw JC sunday and he will open his shop to any body intrested in going to it,then that nite, who knows. I also went to the site on the map peconic put on the Superfest site and on sunday there were 7 boats there, plus 35 MT slips, plus another 40 on the other side That is perfect for us,plenty of room, just west of the bridge on the south side in the inlet!!! any thoughts? Tripps

Peconic 07-15-2003 12:57 AM

Super. And them 7 will either surrender to Superfest, or they will flee the scene. Blown motor eh? Why should you be the only one with issues ... shake a leg, work on that eggbeater!

Pat McPherson 07-15-2003 07:01 AM

Hey Peconic,
That is great news!!! 1:57am, Can't sleep with anticipation??? Are you going to show us a picture of the GPS reading or tease us like with Black Beauty??? Hit the rev. limiter with a 30pitch. Sounds like a winner to me.

Tripps, sorry about your engine. Do your best... With three, I hope you have a spare one on stock.

Pat McPherson 07-15-2003 09:16 AM

Well I heard from JMK4060, and at this point, he's not going to make Superfest. :(

My friend with the 23' Velocity will be on a service call the week before so he is 50/50 at best. :(

I went for a ride with one of my crew members for Superfest last night, and he may have convinced me to make the run by water alone, weather permitting of course

Anyone else out there from the CT river area going???
OH-Zone, Did you get the day off???

Peconic, I may just show up on your doorstep alone... :D

Question: Is there a place to set up a tent for the night? or do we have to stay on the boats?

tripps 07-15-2003 07:56 PM

Im workin!!! slavin away, the spare powerhead was preped tonite,i just came in,go on OSO,try to pull the deadone tommrow and swing on the newbie :) :) :) If i get it runnin, maybe ZZuperboat and another buddy will try to make the poker run at Mattituck saturday. Pat McPherson 07-15-2003 08:42 PM

tripps,
Sounds like you will be back in action in no time. That's great! Please don't blow another before Superfest.

Peconic,
83 on the GPS your second ride. That's awesome! Good luck racing her.

Peconic 07-15-2003 09:04 PM

Patrick:

No problem staying here. I can fetch you on the other side of the Shinnecock Canal.

Yeah, we are feeling pretty good today. Steady 83 with a stock 32 Bravo. (Thanks, Jimmie McIntyre for the loaner ..) I'm already happy, but Kirk is still pushing buttons on his calculator and he's looking for more. Great guy.

Peconic 07-15-2003 09:05 PM

Tripps: We would join you, but we are off to Atlantic City and the Boyz...

Pat McPherson 07-16-2003 06:45 PM

Hey Peconic,

Got any pictures of your new baby on the water?
The Superfest web page is in need of one.

tripps 07-16-2003 08:16 PM

SUPERSTITIOUS 07-18-2003 07:10 AM

Hi guys. Turns out I'm out for Superfest...Boo Hoo..I have to work. I did run into a 30' Superboat on July 6th in Shinnecock bay. Was that anyone one the board? White hull with yellow and blue stripes.

tripps 07-19-2003 09:01 PM

You have to work on saturday and sunday???? We have to see you at least 1 day    Tripps

Pat McPherson 07-21-2003 06:00 AM

Hey tripps,

I think I read that you are all back together and ready to rumble. Did you have her out for a test run yet?

I spent about 4 hours yesterday installing brakes on my trailer to get it legal if I make the trip down by land. Still need to bleed them and register the thing.
Going for a boat ride tonight though...

Hope everyone had a safe weekend racing down in NJ.
I also hope everyone's rigs held together...

Going to look around for some news.

Happy Boating!

Sonic30ss 07-21-2003 06:35 AM

Hey Pat saw you again on Sat.
I was coming back from Claudios.
It was a great day.
One of these days we may actually be going the same direction on the river!
Joe

SUPERSTITIOUS 07-21-2003 10:17 AM

Yeah.. were having a huge mail-sale at the dealership and have to work both days. Such is life...The only good thing about working is I'm too busy to spend $$$

Peconic 07-21-2003 12:22 PM

Ozone: Work doesn't count as an excuse. We expect you at Superfest or else !!!!

White Trash is finally in the water. Results of Atlantic City at http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...0&pagenumber=1

Pat McPherson 07-21-2003 01:00 PM

Hey Peconic,
The weather is looking good. I won't say more, don't want to jinx us.
I am planning to make a last minute decision if it will be by land or sea.
If it works for you, I would like to meet you Saturday 9-10am at the canal.
Good to here your boat ran well, Do you feel shorter after racing? It looked like you may be a little sore

Peconic 07-21-2003 01:50 PM

9-10 am @the Canal, just fine. I might run a bit in your direction.

tripps 07-21-2003 09:30 PM

Good going Peconic !!! Its a big thing doing what you did this weekend, coming in second first time out, that means good eguipment,a compliment to the Kryptonite crew and yourself!!! Hey Pat,I got it in,everything was working well except the battery charger and operator. Then the seaweed found its way into the low water pickups and after a few up and downs i was done    I will be ready for SUPERFEST
