SuperFest 2003 Countdown

Ok, guys & gals: Counting down to SuperFest 2003!

Summer has officially started. If the weather guys are right, the nasty stuff is clearing out. We can turn off the heat at home and turn on the heat for SuperFest 2003.

Get your rigs ready, give a wake-up kiss to that trailer queen, and GET READY FOR SUPERFEST !!!!!

Only one month to go.

No excuses.

Pat McPherson 06-23-2003 04:54 PM

Hey Peconic,
Did you get you boat yet? Finally some good weather to run it. We need to make up for lost time. Looking Forward to the 4th and then Superfest!!!

Peconic 06-23-2003 06:26 PM

Well, when I left for Europe a week ago, the boat was still at Kryptonite. I made Kirk cross his heart, swear to die and turn into sm'ores if he's not finished when I return. Which will be this Saturday.

If he's not finished, we'll roast him over the campfire ...

As for the weather, yep, they removed the cover from our pool today.

Let's keep our fingers, toes and other appendixes crossed ....

Peconic 06-23-2003 06:28 PM

Pat, BTW, send me a picture of your rig for the superfest.org site.

Everybody, send pictures of your rigs for the superfest.org site.

Send to [email protected]

z.zuperboat 06-24-2003 05:45 AM

HEY PECONIC THE SEASON STARTED ONLY YESTERDAY SO YOU HAVENT MISSED ANYTHING. I SAW A YELLOW KRYPTONITE A WEEK AGO AND IT WAS SWEAT. KIRK IS A GREAT GUY AND I KNOW YOU WILL HAVE YOUR BOAT IN TIME.

Peconic 06-24-2003 08:27 AM

ZZ: You've got that right. The season started yesterday ....

Gassticks 06-25-2003 06:30 PM

Well Peconic,
I've polished and waxed the Boat and even got to splash it the last two weekends and I can say she's ready for the trip up north for Superfest. Can't wait! I'll be getting in touch with Dave M. to find out If and when He's going maybe we can tow up together. If not I'll be flying solo. I will keep an eye on the Board for more info.

Chris aka: Gassticks

Pat McPherson 06-25-2003 06:57 PM

Hey Peconic,

I went for a ride with JMK a while back and he took some pictures of both of our boats. His wife had taken the camera on a trip so he has not down loaded them yet. When he does, we should have a few that will be worthy of posting. If not, I'll bug him to take some more of the two 24s from Chester, CT.

Hope we hear all about your first ride. The weather has finally broken, sun and 85°F here today.

tripps 06-25-2003 08:09 PM

Hi Guys,I'm still alive, just slavin on my rig and doin other things, after i finnish putting in new gauges,I hope to splash it in this weekend:D :D :D Happy days soon,Lookin foward to superfest 2003,seein peconics new ride, pats boat, gassticks,DaveM,and some others. Tripps

Peconic 06-27-2003 02:42 PM

Ok, guys.

Tomorrow morning, I'll be on a plane back stateside. The wife is complaining about a heatwave and a broken pool heater, so the heatwave can't be that bad.

New ride is scheduled to get wet this week, or so I am told.

About time:

4 weeks to go to SuperFest 2003!

Congratulations, Gassticks, for getting it together.

Any news on Jcap? When I left 2 weeks ago, he was depressed because he needed some glass work.

Tripps, ZZ, Pat, Dave et al: Summer's HERE!!!!

PS: There is a fun run from Shinnecock Canal over to Claudio's in Greenport, August 9, meet at the Canal around 11 am.

For details: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...threadid=53039

Pat McPherson 06-28-2003 08:52 PM

Summer is finally here!!!
I check my calender for the Aug. 9th run to Claudio's, unfortunately, no can do.
I went today though. We blasted across the Sound in record time. Record time for me that is... 10-1/2min. from old Saybrook Light house to Orient point light house.
I hope everyone get to take a ride this weekend. First ride without a shirt, had to work on my farmer tan.

Peconic 06-29-2003 10:29 AM

The last boats are hitting the water. Received mail from JCap:

"Hows the boat? Mine is done, will be testing tomorrow."

Looks like mine is the very last to hit the H2O.

tripps 06-29-2003 08:52 PM

No I/ll be last,I tried to put it in today, but the trim pump for the one motor died:( :( and now i gotta yank the mota and swap pump motas and put it in this week:D :D hopefully. After all the things I did to it,I cant fathom anything else going wrong!! But we went out in the cc today and had some fun,but its not like tripps!!! Tripps

z.zuperboat 06-30-2003 05:37 AM

Tripps I was downloading the card reader for my computer last night for my pictures and now I have the blue screan of death. Im pulling my boat tonight to install the flags.

Peconic 06-30-2003 03:25 PM

I don't know, Tripps. Just got off the phone with Kirk @ Kryptonite. He says, Randy wants to race his black beauty in Savannah this weekend, so Kirk has to be ready by Wed. I'm next. Or so he says.

If it's just a trim pump, then you are way ahead of me.

tripps 06-30-2003 08:09 PM

Hey Peconic,we will be around sat and sunday,I hope, come out with us!! WE will probally hook up with ZZ,he does live close :D :D :D :D Tripps

I'm going to send this picture to superfest.org
JMK took it a few weeks back.

Peconic 07-01-2003 07:32 PM

It's up on the Superfest website.

Pat McPherson 07-02-2003 09:04 AM

The Pictures Look Great on the Superfest Web Page!

Peconic,
You need to work on ZZ. He has all kind of excuses. Take one yourself if you have to.

Peconic 07-02-2003 09:52 AM

ZZ? Excuses? Folks, J(im)Cap(ie) & I are card carrying members of the Jersey Boyz. We can be quite convincing. If necessary, with a baseball bat.

Sean's picture is up also.

tripps 07-02-2003 07:52 PM

Hey peconic, your more than welcome, call me saturday morn, tripps

Peconic 07-02-2003 09:07 PM

Peconic 07-02-2003 09:09 PM

Boat update: We splashed Randy's boat today. Pictures at http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...threadid=53632

Kirk promises that mine will be done next weekend. Jim's seats were dispatched to Babylon this afternoon.

Pat McPherson 07-03-2003 06:06 PM

Hey Peconic,
I just saw a glimpse of the stern of your boat in your muffler survey.
Did I see an extension box??
Did you buy with a 525 Merc. and the new integrated steering?? Now I'm jealous...
Will the fastest boat at Superfest be a Superboat?
I'm not so sure now...
Well I'm sorry you won't have her for the weekend. I'm anxious to see photos of your maiden voyage next week.

By the way, I use Eddie Marine mufflers built into the tips. They are great for taking the edge off. No good over 400HP though. Captain's call for me next year.

Everyone, Have a great long weekend!!!
I'm hoping to go to Block Saturday returning Sunday.

Peconic 07-03-2003 07:09 PM

Pat: You saw right.

HP525, Sportsmaster shorty lower, ITS (which acts as a 7" extension box). We figure, it will go 85, maybe a bit more. Jcap is 4 mph faster, with 200 hp more.

It has Sound Choice (the CMI version of Silent Choice.) Not recommended over 3000 RPM. I'll fit those new miracle mufflers to take the full blast edge off.

Jcap and moi might go to Peconic Bay tomorrow.

tripps 07-05-2003 08:16 PM

Hey pat, thats a good question, who will have the fastest BOAT at superfest, that sounds like a open invitation to some serious runnin!!! They only made a couple of cats and I havent seen any around here. Most of the Vs are in the 80 to 90 range,I really havent heard of any faster than that, but what do I know!!! Will any cats show up? besides all the 24,28,and 32 skaters around here. Tripps

tripps 07-06-2003 08:35 PM

Hey peconic,we did it today!!! The boat runs fine. we went to patchouge and back on a shakedown run,no problems,Im ready for more!! tripps

Peconic 07-07-2003 06:46 PM

Good for you! Patchogue? Halfway to Quogue. Sorry I didn't call, got involved in the Savannah imbroglio and had to work the phones. My boat is scheduled to splash on Friday, if (Vinyl- ) Frank's daughter won't get a baby before that date (anybody know methods to delay birth?)

Only 3 short weeks to Superfest 2003!!!!!!

Pat McPherson 07-08-2003 07:11 AM

Great News Tripps!!!
We took our boat to Block Island. Boy the waves were big. If we take too many more of those trips my wife may let me buy a bigger boat soon.

Hey Peconic, No way to slow nature down. Only speed it up.
My sister in-law had her baby on the 4th. I had threatened to take her for a boat ride if she did have her before the weekend. No way my wife would have gone to Block without seeing the new baby. Good luck with that new ride! We need to hear all about it.

Peconic 07-08-2003 05:43 PM

Ok, guys, new Supertfest participant, Herb from New Jersey. This came in by mail. I gave him directions. He needs to know where he can sleep. Pls send Motel recommendations to herb hochman <[email protected]> He doesn't seem to be on the forum, but I gave him the link.

In that case, I recommend daily trips to Block ... All joking aside, going from CT to Block through the race can get real nasty, esp in a 21. I'd go via Plum & Montauk, even take the back side of Shelter if the weather is a snotty.

tripps 07-08-2003 08:33 PM

Someone tell herb that kismet has a hotel there, daveM stayed there last year, there is a hotell right on route 109,south of southern state parkway as you come into babylon,I'll try to get the name and post it. As for the main site ,I think we will have to use the state park, just west of the bridge in the inlet. My friend went there sunday and there is plenty of room for 50 boats and it was MT The beach called sorethumb was packed,no room. Now that My boat is in,I can check it out better. I say any time is good ,I'll be out around 1.00 saturday, and for the weekend. tripps :D :D :D

tripps 07-08-2003 08:49 PM

Did any body check out the nice stuff for sale on the Superfest website for sale? We need to get it sold for the event!!! And pat, glad you made it back, and boy,it can get rough out there, and i'm quite sure your superboat did well!! tripps

Pat McPherson 07-09-2003 11:28 AM

Hey Peconic & tripps,
We sunk behind Fisher's Island for part of the trip and that helps. I have gone by route of Mantauk before too. I've done the trip in both my 18' and 20' Donzi too. I have found that traveling in the morning works best if there is no fog. I did see a 21' Superboat from RI out there, and my 24' does do fine even in 4 to 6 footers. Put the tabs down and take your time.

Absolutely. It usually is like a mirror in the morning. Sometimes, after pulling an all-nighter, I see it getting light outside, I walk down to the dock, listen to the birds wake up, see the glassy water, and I think: "WTF! Let's get the keys!"

Pat McPherson 07-10-2003 06:41 AM

Hey Peconic,
I hope you planning an all-nighter for Superfest.
I may come down Friday night and stay at my wife's cousin's house in Ocean Side. I don't know how close that is, but I'll start Friday night too.

Peconic 07-10-2003 10:27 AM

Patrick: Oceanside? I'd say it's about 20 - 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Oceanside is near Rockville Center, about two thirds from Babylon to JFK.

Not planning any all-nighters for Superfest, but planning an all-nighter at Superfest!

With any luck, we'll have "White Trash" in the water this weekend for testing. It might arrive at Superfest without a cabin and other non-essentials, but hey. Adding stuff just slows her down ...

tripps 07-10-2003 05:47 PM

Hey Pat,you gonna put in friday? Oceanside is not far from babylon,by water or car, water is faster,do they have a waterfront house? There are 2 ramps by us,let us know what your plans are,so we can help get you goin!!! tripps
