Unhappy My Broken Boat

I took a few photos of the damage to my boat from our trip down to the south shore. It is not too bad, and should be fixed by early next week.

Hey Trips, Have you bolted on a power head with out a hole in the side?

Hey Zuperboat, Do you have your baby back in her float lift?

Remember, two trips to BI coming up. Hope you guys can make one or both...

Given a closer look, my cracked stringer my have been repaired once before, or maybe damage had been painted over.

I am not sure if the shelf is to be structural, but I think there should be a little more glass at this seam.

Hey Patrick,

That don't look too bad. Not that it should of happened in the first place though. When you first mentioned it I thought it was much worse.

Dave M.

P.S. You need to keep that engine compartment cleaner!

Hi Tripps,

I am planning to go to Block Island the last two weekends in August.

The first trip is a Sunday, Monday deal... Sort of a traveling bachelor party. We have been going to BI each of the last 7 years in honor of friend getting hitched. The last two have been boys on their second go around; I guess that's the age we've reached.
We plan to leave on Sunday the 17th after our softball games, hopefully before noon. We will have 3 or 4 boats, carrying 15 to 20 guys. It is about a 50 mile trip for us, so it takes about 2 hours.
Anyway, South Side Johny along with another band are playing at the Spring house 12pm to 5pm. Our intension is to catch the second half.
We will doc up at Champlin's Marina. Some will stay on the boats, some will get rooms somewhere.

The second trip we have planned is Saturday the 23rd to Sunday the 24th. At this point, two boats going. My wife and I on ours, my buddy Gregg and his wife on theirs. Same deal, Champlin's Marina, staying on the boats.

As for the water, it is a crap shoot... Normally the earlier you travel the calmer it is. During the Summer, the winds tend to be from the south so it is nice ride along the north side of LI out to Montauk. From Montauk out to BI is 17miles of open ocean. The ocean tends to have bigger waves, but they are rollers for the most part.

Tripps, you have a 30ft boat, no worries...

I have gone out in my 18ft Donzi. If it gets rough, you go slow.

Peconic may be coming. If I was you, trailer out to him, or maybe as far as Sag. Drop her in and blast over. From Sag harbor, BI is about 40 miles...

Talk to Zuperboat, get him to come along too.

Others wellcome too! JMK406, OH-Zone, Sonic Joe...
