OK, found them. Prior to the 30 Y2K, there does not seem to be many 30 I/O's around. Were many made? That 2000 24' w/300 OB sound like a deal at 28K. I was thinking my '98 I/O was worth about that much or more.

Re: Any 30's for sale?
Dave,
I think prior to the mid 90's, most Superboats were built for outboards. A 30' non-Y2K I/O is going to be a tough find... In my opinion, a 24' or 30' I/O hull is worth significantly more than an outboard. |

Re: Any 30's for sale?
Oh Yes, I found out first hand at last year's Superflop. Your waters are vary shallow. Peconic and I ran aground 3-4 times during that trip. Twice in marked channels. Good thing we only hit sand.
The couple of times I met with JC, he told me that he started building more 24' I/Os because people wanted to go in excess of 70mph. A few years back, the big 300HP out-boards were not that reliable and the 24' does not handle all that great with twins. Superbash, your new setup with the combination of stepped hull, notched transom, and stand-off bracket may be just the ticket for a faster and more reliable out-board version... :) |
