Any 30's for sale?

I am kicking around the idea of upgrading. I am thinking either sell my boat as-is and get something else. Or, spend some $$ on mine and get it set-up exactly the way I want it. A '24 is big enough for most of my adventures but a '30 would be nice.

Did Zuperboat ever sell his boat? I would like to have the newer bottom. I prefer the flat transom over the integrated platform. I do not want OB's. I would like a more pleasure orientated cockpit and cabin.

Pat McPherson 11-04-2003 11:36 AM

Hey Dave,
I asked Tripps the same question last week.
Mike has not sold the Zuperboat yet.
Tripps can get you his phone number I'm sure.
Good Luck!

Dave M 11-04-2003 11:50 AM

Thanks Patrick. I actually got his number of of an old thread. Are you thinking of buying it?

Hey Tripps, Do you have any pics of Mike's boat you can post? Cabin, cockpit, rigging? I have a few of it running but I would like to see some close up pics.

Did you guys see the pics over in the Gen discussion from the Glen Cove poker run? It looks like John & John were really rockin'

Pat McPherson 11-04-2003 01:49 PM

Hey Dave,
I wish I had the funds to buy a 30'... Going to stick with my 24' for a while. I need to build a garage and my wife is working me for another child...

Pat McPherson 11-04-2003 07:04 PM

Hey Dave,

Did you give Mike a call? His 30' is one of a kind. From what he told me, there were three 30' Tempests built with the Y2K bottom. The other two are out-boards. I did get an up close look at Zuperboat at Superflop. She is one nice machine :) , 540cube engine, IMCO extension box, shorty drive, and full hydraulic steering. She has the same interior as ours, but I don't think the cabin is completely finished.

How come this year there are so many nice 24s for sale? If yours goes up for sale, that makes 4 exceptionally nice 24 I/Os up for grabs, that I know of anyway. I was begging for someone to sell me a 24 I/O last year.
Well I did finally get my hands on one, and it has been a great boat.

z.zuperboat 11-05-2003 09:48 PM

I FINALLY MADE A RUN THIS YEAR AND IT WAS THE HOT TODDY.IT LOOKED LIKE I WAS THE ONLY BOAT WITH OUT A SUPERCHARGER.HALF WAY THROUGH IT SPIT OFF THE POWER STEERING BELT IN TURN TAKING THE REST OF THE BELTS WITH IT.BUT IT WAS GOOD TO SEE 5700 AGAIN AND DAM WAS IT COLD THAT DAY. ANYWAY THE BOATS STILL FOR SALE,MY WIFE IS DUE IN FEB.WITH OUR SECOND CHILD SO I DONT SEE ME USING IT MUCH NEXT YEAR EITHER. IT STILL HAS UNDER 90 HOURS ON IT SINCE NEW.ANY INTEREST CALL MIKE 631-321-6767

JackL 11-06-2003 04:11 PM

Could you post some pics and the asking price
Thanks

Pat McPherson 11-20-2003 07:59 PM

Hey Dave,
What's Up? Gonna be a bigger boat, a bigger engine, or both? :D

Dave M 11-21-2003 06:11 AM

Hey Patrick,

I did talk to Mike the other day. I would have to sell my boat before I can move on anything else. My wife was the one who started the whole thing. I was talking about repowering and she says "why don't you just get a bigger boat with the engine you want?" It's tough to argue with that! I am the more "financially responsible" one in the family though. She loves to buy things and then I have to figure out how to pay for it all. Hopefully the market will be good to me over the next few months. If you know anybody looking for a '24 I may sell it. I'd be asking around 30K. It's still not too cold down here for a sea-trial.

Dave

fastedy 11-21-2003 05:50 PM

My 30 will be for sale, it always is this time of the year, It for sale threw January, but it never fails, someone looks at it all winter and wants to buy it in February or March and don't understand it when I tell them it's not for sale anymore, I will have it listed next week, with or without power.

Pat McPherson 11-23-2003 08:05 AM

Hi Dave,
30K for your boat is a reasonable number...
I would have been knocking on your door last year.
There is a guy here in CT, (his name is Tom) that is quite hot for a 24' Superboat or Pantera. He came down to check out my boat a couple of times. Could you e-mail me or post a link to your web-page. I'll pass it along to Tom.
Dave, at least one of you is the responsible one. Both my wife and I like to spend money we don't have. We have had a number of talks about bigger boats, adding on to our house, building a garage... Oh, and a second child too... To spite the fact my wife named our boat "For Now", I think it will be around a while... :)

Good Luck trying to sell,

Dave M 11-23-2003 08:49 AM

Hey Patrick,

Here is a link to my boat pics for your friend.

Nice pics! I might have to break into my piggy bank!

Hey Patrick,

Is that guy you know still looking for a '24?

Pat McPherson 12-10-2003 06:59 PM

Hi Dave,
Funny you ask, I had a few e-mails back and forth with Tom today.
He has not bought anything yet, it seems he is in a similar position to you.
Has to sell one toy before he can by another. He is trying to sell his Harley...
Tough time of year to sell bikes or boats.
I went through the same last year. My Pantera was for sale starting in September; couldn't give it away.
Then April came and I took the first reasonable offer. As it turns out, in May I could have sold the thing ten times over...
If you really like Mike's boat, go for it. :D
Your boat is real nice Dave, it will sell without question, by May of next year...

tripps 12-10-2003 07:46 PM

Yes Pat,I did make what I thought was realstic considering that it needed gauges, steering, controls, front seats like skater has, back seats, motormounts, drive, gas tanks taken out and inspected, and who knows what else a boat needs after sitting for a few years. So basicly its just a hull that needs everything.   But,you never know!! I think I was the highest offer from what some friends told me and I had the cash in my hand!! You know what,I don't need it and my boat now is very practical for me,I would not be able to bring that down my crick!! sucks doesn't it!! Thats something isn't it ,a canal with no water. OK,enough sorrow,on with good stuff,MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR,and only one hundred and fifty days till BOATING SEASON :D :D :D Tripps

PS my boat is runnin REAL good since i had a bad stator on the center motor and i changed the powerhead with the broken rod, ouch sea ya

Pat McPherson 01-09-2004 06:45 PM

Hey ZZ,
I was just having another look at your boat.

I tell ya, if I were you, I would open up that cabin entrance, and finish it off.
I bet there is plenty of room for you, your wife, your daughter, and your?? to camp out.

Besides, I'm hoping you hang onto her for couple more years, then I can buy her from you...:D

z.zuperboat 01-10-2004 07:04 AM

I HAVE JUST THE GUY TO PUT IN THE HATCH WITH THE STEPS.RONNIE FROM SCREAM AND FLY AND HE COULD MAKE IT LOOK FACTORY. YES I WOULD LOVE TO KEEP HER SO IF IT DON'T SELL NO LOSS.MAYBE I CAN ENJOY THE NEW CAMSHAFT.CAMPING WHATS THAT. I'M ALSO LOOKING FOR SPARE BRAVO PARTS JUST STOCK STUFF FOR LESS DOWN TIME.I HAVE ALL THE TOOLS AND WITH TRIPP'S KNOWLEDGE THERE ISN'T ANY THING WE CANT FIX.;)

tripps 01-10-2004 03:29 PM

Wanna bet??? Tripps

Pat McPherson 01-10-2004 04:27 PM

Hey ZZ,
New camshaft?
Do your boat engines winter inside like mine have the last few years?
I spent 4 hours cleaning my basement today to make room for rebuilding my little 7.4L. Boat and engine parts are everywhere...
Hell, nothing to do outside, 9°F for a high today.
Later,

z.zuperboat 01-10-2004 07:24 PM

YES IT WAS COLD I WAS TO BE AT HOME DEPOT BY 7AM TO PICK UP LUMBER FOR MY BATHROOM PROJECT BUT WHEN I GOT UP I COULD NOT SEE OUT MY WINDOWS THE ICE WAS ON THE INSIDE? I TURNED ON THE TV AND IT WAS ALMOST 10 BELOW.CAMSHAFT ? ITS TIME TO WAKE THE 540.

Pat McPherson 01-11-2004 07:53 PM

ZZ, so what cam are you going with?
How much more are you hoping for?

I got my re-calibrated ECU back yesterday. I am hoping to stay with the MPI. If I don't gain at least 400rpm, a carb and high rise intake will replace it.

z.zuperboat 01-13-2004 11:12 AM

The hull is a 99 tempest deck with a y2k bottom. It,s weight was on the scale at 4575 with a full tank of fuel. Mcbetts 540.Imco short drive extension box and steering.Float on aluminum trailer.Pat im looking at a crane 741 cam from a merc 575 . The 575 only has 75 hrs on it and if you want it its yours, its back in the box with the lifters and springs. Thats for the flag favor I/O/U

Pat McPherson 01-13-2004 01:20 PM

Thanks for the offer Mike!
Probably too much cam for my little 7.4.
Hang onto it for someone that has a bigger engine.
I bought a custom grind roller from Marine Engines in Mass.
It's supposed to give me another 40-50 ponies which will max out my GM injection system.
Ordered up a gasket set today, time to start tearing into it.
Talk to you soon,

z.zuperboat 01-14-2004 08:54 AM

Pat who is putting the motor together.Installing the cam spring height push rod length and so on. Make sure you have the good valves.Comp cams makes a roller lifter that has a grove in it that sprays pressurized oil onto the wheel of the roller. Not just splashed from below,at startup and sitting for weeks at a time this is a great option.

Pat McPherson 01-14-2004 11:41 AM

Hey ZZ,
I had my heads done at a local machine shop.
Bowl ported, new Manley severe duty ss valves, new springs, retainers, and locks.
The cam I purchased will work with all of the other stock GM valve train parts.
I am reassembling the engine.
Not going too wild with this engine, it's not worth the $$. Remember, it's got a cast crank, the small rods, and the GM fuel injection.
My plans are for a 502 next year, just doing a little tinkering along the way.

z.zuperboat 01-14-2004 01:34 PM

Make sure you use the inconel exhaust valves.

Pat McPherson 01-16-2004 06:31 AM

Hey Zuperboat,
Is your engine a 540 tall deck or a stroker 502 block.
I have a friend with a stroker. He built his with Merlin VRs, the Crane 741, and I think about 9.5 to 1 compression.
Dyno tested at 585HP @ 5600 I believe...
So what's your plan? 600+HP, looking for 90mph?
It's -2°F outside, so I'm trying to think Boats and Bikinis.
