Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
I Think Tripps And Myself Rekindled The Twin Thing.going Back To My Favorite Rc Marine.i Would No Dought Go To Twin Small Blocks Over Big Cube Single Any Day.great Speed Stock Power And The Drives Should Last Forever Being That Both Take The Load.im Going To Have To Stop Down And See This One Before It Makes Powerboat Mag.
|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
It will be interesting to hear about this boat once it's in the water. The transom pics really show how squished the twins are. It also show how much higher the twins will sit(typical when comparing a single to twins). I'm just curious how the narrow beam will hand the extra weight up high like that. It will really change the center of gravity.
|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Boy , All I can say is  WOW ! I would like to see what the Numbers will look like when its' dialed in. I'm woundering how low it will sit in the water . Wear will the exaust will wind up ? It is a cool idea thought.

Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
-The center of gravity thing shouldn't be noticeable. She'll fly like a dart...
-A "lowrider" she may be at idle. |
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Superbash.......................Correction !! She flew like a dart. Splasher her today. Awesome machine. I'll have pictures up of her in the water on tues. Since I broke down and paid for a Gold Membership, let me see if the pics I took testurday will attach.

-Kool! Woulda like to seen her go- go- go  . Gotta take vid of that baby. Any more test runs this weekend? Like to see her run. |
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Believe it or not. The customer took it home to the Peconis Bay, by water. I guess that was his test drive. He's bringing her back around wed/thurs, so we can fit his new engine hatch cover. I'll get some pics then. Unfortunately, I don't have a digital cam corder.

Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
OH..OH..I believe it. ;)
-My A75( & others) take short vid clips(better than nothing). Gonna stop by this week. Gene |
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Let me read up on my camera. I know it takes short videos. Let me see what I can do. But the file size might be too big to ppost.
|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
It will be too big. You gotta host it on a server(i.e. ImageEvent), which like everything, has a membership fee.

Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!

|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Jesus !!!! And just think, I broke my ass today to make sure his new twin scoop engine hatch was done for installation tomorrow.
|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Don't see how the motors could have even been "broken in" yet for top speed runs, considering the time period since she splashed.
|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
I learned from a friend of my dads long ago, Break them in hard, they run hard. I have never had any internal engine trouble, but I change oil every 15 to 20 hrs, besides this boat has a 6 year warranties.
Rick, are you coming to Point. Getting things ready to leave Thursday morning, bring your camera beers on me. |
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
fasted....I used to live by the "break 'em in the way youre gonna run em creed", until the Merc's diagnostic analyzer spit my run time history from minute one out :( . JC ain't warrantying no grenaded motors 1 day old, forget 6 years later.
|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Its my understanding that motors now break in almost instantly, thats why you see all these engine builders, Innovation included running these motors WOT on the dyno under load with Zero hours on them. My Brand new leased Vortect motor from Innovation that I raced with last year was Dynoed and sent to me still with the break in oil, I was told not to change it until after the first race.
|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
I've never figure out this whole break in thing. Many of the custom built motors are dynoed before instal. I'm thinking they aren't "broke in" when they are making WOT dyno pulls.
|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
My Engine Builder Will Run The Motor With Lite Valve Spring With Out Making Pulls Let It Cool Retorque The Heads Install The Proper Spring And Then Start Making Pulls.no Synthetic Oil Until The Ring Have Seated.

Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Hey Guys,
That is one awesome machine!!! I'm sure with the extra weight and stability of twins, she is one hell of a rough water boat. I would think she is a lot better around the docks too. Like to know if she's as fast as a single with a 500 or 525??? I would guess faster out of the hole, but not top end... Hey Bash, I think at this stage of the game, I would rather a single engine boat. I had a 28ss Cigarette with twin small-blocks; it ate my lunch with all the fuel and maintenance. My 24' Super costs a lot less than 1/2, maybe 1/3, to run and maintain. Of course that boat was a 1978. Also, after seeing the Zuperboat next to the Y2K's at SuperFountainVello Fest, I have to say that I like the old deck lines better. Sorry Jcap, Super30, and...; the Tempest is a classic... As for engine break in: What is that??? Any engine I have ever built, I have started hammering as soon as they are up to temp. ZZ is right, I use 30 weight for the 5-10 hours, then 20-50 Syn. |
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Ed,
I might be able to pull it off. Kate has a baby shower on Sat. Hopefully I'll see ya there. |
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Race is on Friday, we're not going, calling for heavy rain all day, if it gets postponed we will probably go.

Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Dammm Straight Now Lets See What Kind Of Vents They Put In The Front,i Also Like The Air Gap In The Back So The Air Flows Thru Without Ugly Vents In The Back.now Lets Get Crazzzy And Put An Air Pan Inside.
|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
That is fine looking! Sitting on a real nice Y2K deck, ready to install! :)
|
Re: Twin Smallblocks Superboat 30y2k!
Yup Krak, thats your deck. It's just keeping the hatch out of harms way.
John wants to put 5 3" round white intake vents in the front of the scoops. |

Hey FX10
Maybe(or maybe not) you can set some of the SB "bashers"(not me) straight over on this S&F thread. http://forums.screamandfly.com/forum...threadid=65620 |
