DAMN!! This thread just took me waaaay back!! I too remember vividly Raynas ring, and the Dirty Dozen! Quick story, my dad was buying a used 24' sea ray from the then Albin dealer on River road, Cos-cob in spring of I think 1981/82. Anyway he became friends with the mechanic at the Albin dealer/marina where he was buying the sea-ray, The mechanic was an owner/partner in "Raynas-Ring" now unfortunetly for me, my old man never got into performance boats, but had it in his blood from being an ex-drag racer, car guy 60's & 70's Anyhow, The day before the Greenwich race I guess something broke in the steering, and on a friday nite the owner called my dad for his help. (My old man owned a machine shop in Stamford) Anyway, I remember going to work with him real early on Saturday morning while he made some part for the boats steering, and we delivered it to them at around 10 or 11 am that morning. Well we went home and got ready to go down to the boat to watch the race, as my dad kept his boat at Grass Island, Greenwich. When we got down there we meet up again with the owner or "Raynas" as he wanted to show us something.. He had lettered on the side of the boat, next to the drivers names, "Thanks to PeeWee" (My dads nickname, everyone from childhood knew him as) Well I guess you had to be there, but for a 10yr' old kid, I thought it was like the coolest thing! Anyhow, they did'nt win in B-class that day, but recived the award for "best Looking boat" in that NPBA race. It was an awsome looking boat with those twin "White" Johnsons on the back! A few years later when I got big enough to ride my bike down to the marinas, I became friends with Bill Ebrac, who owned the "Dirty Dozen" Another bad azz 24' with twin mers, Boat was all black, red interior, and on the lettering in the "Dirt Dozen" there was a piston and rod for the letter "T" Fitting name for a boat with 2-screaming V-6 bridgeports! Ahh.. the good old days..
