I see you saw the link I found. Between the heads and intakes. Thats worth a few ponies. I don''t go by adding, 2 here, 3 there 3 or 4 here. You''ll definately get up there in mph. I wonder if any of the guys in this sight have tried the new hydromotive 5 blade props. From what I hear their good at midrange and worth alittle at wot.

Jcap is racing with a 5 blade Hydro.
I think he said 3mph faster and much better over all than a 4 blade bravo.

Here they are.
Installing the rear stringers. The bulkheads are temporarily in as an alignment tool to set the stringers. Once the stringers are bedded in, the bulkheads will be removed and the stringers glassed in place. Then the bulkheads will be glassed in place.

Gary, ask Jcap directly what he has seen for gains with the 5 blade.
I did speak with him about them at the CT river run. He told me his boat runs 88 with a Bravo I and 91 with the 5 blade hydro.
You will not likely gain 3mph; say for 74 to 77, but maybe 74 to 75-76...
Krackmeup was going to try one; that will give you a true gauge.

Rick Don't forget to drill drain holes for the water to run thru.Mine doesn't have any.I'm always sponging the water out between the stringers and in the cabin from those great looking popup cleats and front light. Rick I love the picks of the older superboats do you have any of ZUL,s

Rick, can you detail out what is actually done in the 'blueprinting ' process, or is that trade secret!?!?

I do have a line on a five blade, but haven't tried it yet - I need to coordinate with my buddy so I can go yank it from his Sonic while he's working and then me and another buddy want to try it on my SB and his Velocity. We'll probably get to try this in the next 2-4 weekends if weather cooperates.

Ok Gary - have I told you (lately) how awesome this boat is??? Man, we went out yesterday in snotty stuff and got wet and a little beat up, but on the trip home with a tail wind I cranked her up and was doing 70 across the tops with four people and 3/4 fuel - WAY TOO COOL. (Pat, PULL THE TRIGGER!!!) :)

Superboat is too cool, way to go John , Rick - keep it up!!

I believe Jcap has a 650-700HP Supercharged 509 cube MRD built engine hooked to a Merc. Bravo XR drive.
I am surprised that he has not chimed in lately...

$1500 sound like a lot of $$, but if you would realy gain 2-3mph it's worth it. I spent a lot more than that on my engine last year to gain 3mph; and then it blew... :eek:

I think ZZ means that there should be a way for water to drain past the forward bulkheads into the bilge. I too use a hand pump and sponge to get the water out of the cabin, and forward compartments. It is kind of a PIA...

My wife agrees that a larger boat would be better for running in LI sound, but it is not really necessary in the CT river. The plan is to add on to our house before I can buy a larger boat. She has also been working on me about a 2nd child too... :eek:

I think the drainage problem will be taken care of from now on. I addressed it to John awhile back about putting drain tubes to the stern for the cleats and mainly the bow light.

Pat,,,,,from What I Understand, Rick On Line, John On Phone ( Many Talks ) Printing Out The The Bottom Will Definitely Pick Up A Couple Mph'. Now Add A 5 Blade. We Could Be Looking At 4 Mph. My shore house is on the Jersey Shore/water and we primarily do our boating in Barnegat Bay with occasional fishing trips in the ocean. I don't have a Superboat, but between my brother and I we have a SeaRay Cuddy, Challenger splash, ProLine CC and a MacGregor power sailboat (never heard of such a thing until my bro pulled up with it).

I'm sure I'm not alone when saying that I enjoy viewing the pics and hearing the stories behind them on OSO. Great thread and good choice of boat!

I'm fine. 4 fingers are alittle chewed up. Nothing a few band aids can't handle.
Gary, almost finished the balsa core in the hull today. It'll be done tomorrow. So I guess I'll have to post some pictures of the progress.
