Rob.. I used the Garmin 172c in mine which I like. I do find at speed a larger unit would be better.

Same as OZ 172 C, it does the job.

Yeah it seems the price difference is for the preloaded maps...

492 Should do you just fine. The 498 comes with the depth sounder. I have just the digital depthfinder on my dash.... Thats all I need. Reads thru the bottom. Make sure Rick cuts thru the balsa core to mount the transducer. Unless just idling around the depthfinder is useless anyway.
