If you are thinking more like 800HP, then I would agree with Zup, a new 540cube long block is in order.
Over 700HP is also going to be an issue for your Bravo XR drive. There are Bravo replacements hooked to 800+ out there though.
It's all a matter of how much $$ you are willing to spend...

A 509 is not a stroke only a bore. Not much difference in HP between a 509 and 540 if both prepped the same way . if your going to bore lower the comp. to like 7.5 to 1 and turn the boost up to like 10 pounds. if your going to stroke go as big as you can . All the same price. I think you can go 572 and thats a standard bore if your keeping your block. Probably at least 75hp more for a 572 from a 509. Keep the boat the way it is and use the money for fuel and drinks. Their is always going to be somebody faster.

A bulletproof package would be 598na 750-800hp with a Konrad outdrive, trade your package in,upgrading your engine will probably lead to headaches,if you keep your bravo set up send it out to max machine for upgrading ,I sold a 36 spectre cat with mdg540/650 he then installed whipples and had his outdrives upgraded by max machine and they held up well.Running high hp with any bravo setup will require once a year tear down and inspection and rebuilding as neccessary. The trade off of going to the bigger, stronger drive is added weight ,more hp to turn, ang less efficient lower unit.

Gary, with only 200hrs, just turn up the boost! Remember I had over 350 hrs on my 454mag ProCharged at 7.5 pounds and still running strong when sold.
Remember if you upgrade the drive from a XR style, you just waisted the HP gain you paid for building the motor. Unless you go big!!!
