Hey Brian,
That spell check thing always screws up on me.
The 502Mag/HO comes with stainless intake and inconnel exhaust valves standard.
If you use the ZZ502 cam you do not need to change the lifters or springs. If you go with the true HP500 Crane stuff, then you do need to change the lifters and springs.
Hey Dave,
Looking sweet!!!!!!!!!!
I sold off my 24p and bought a 28p. Now if I can only find the time to rebuild my engine...

Hey Engine Gurus,
We pulled this baby out off my buddy's Fountain because the oil pressure seem to be dropping all season...
Then it would not maintain oil pressure at all after a hard run. It showed 30-35psi at 4000+rpm then would drop to below 10 when you pulled the throttle back...
She is just about stripped to the bare block now.
I can't find anything wrong with this engine so far. All the bearings look good; not even one scored surface...
Could it have just been the oil pump bypass???
Tripps, Zup, anyone... Ideas please...

Pat, Can't help with that question. That's why I went the route I did.
It looks like my install is having a few issues. I'm probably going to have to cut some "semi circles" off the deck at the transom to accomadate the exhaust hoses. The risers on the 496 are higher. Also, I am going to have to raise my hatch a few inches. I had a feeling that was going to happen. My old motor was right at the top of the hatch. How do people fit carbed engines in there? They seem like they would be higher than a MPI motor?

Hey Dave,
Maybe it's time FX makes us 24SB guys a new hatch too.
I wouldn't mind loosing the sun pad for nice flat glass and gelcoat.
My sun pad is either flying off at high speed or getting dirty for climbing into the boat...
I looked at the hight difference between the Merc MPI and a high rise with carb. Not much difference. I have not had a good look at the new 496 though...
I wonder if JC has put one in a 24 yet?
Probably not if JMK's 24 was the last I/O built. You're the ginnipig (sp)...
Dave, may I suggest that you look for some real flat angle (15°) elbows to go between the riser and tips. I hate cutting into fiberglass...
Hey Superbash,
Remember I have worked in pit crews...
By the way, my 454 is still in the boat. I could bolt the drive on and go...
We'll be ready May 1st on way or another...
