Re: Superboats?
Yea , I got a GW invader in 1975, it came with a 20 hp Chrysler !!( Chrysler outboard what a piece of chit!) We put a merc 50 on it! The speedo read 55mph that was FAST then!! It was probably 50 with a GPS!! The boat weighed a ton! We took it to the OBI on sundays for years in the late 70s Then I stepped up to a 21 Challenger

Re: Superboats?
The only thing with them is they are soo narrow, only 4', they can't hold a large motor. Panico had his with a 25hp and the well was maybe 4" from the water. The Supervader is 5'3" wide, and can hold alot of hp.
|
Re: Superboats?
No thanks on the SuperVader I/O, I can't find enough time to use the boats I have.
George's boat is looking sweet! It is now 2005, Are we talking SuperFountainVelocityDonziSutphinFest Yet? :drink: |
Re: Superboats?
Hi,
I'm looking to move up from my 22' chris craft stinger to something a little bigger and faster this spring. I've read most of the threads in this forum and its nearly sold me on Superboats. Does anyone have any experience running a 24' SB in the Cheaspeake Bay? If so, how does it handle when it gets a little ugly out there? For reference some of the other boats i'm considering are 26' sonic, 25' active thunder, and 25' baja. Anything under 35' in the bay obviously gives you a bit of a pounding, but since my pockets aren't deep enough right now, i'm just looking for something that can handle it safely and at a good clip. Your opinions are appreciated. |
Re: Superboats?
Hey Century29,
I have a 24 SB I/O. I run on the Potomac, Chesapeake, Patuxent, all over the area. Shoot me an email if you want to know more. The boats you mentioned are good boats too. Dave M. P.S. Don't let Superbash talk you into one of those stinky-ass OB boats! :D |
Re: Superboats?
Dave,
Don't worry about me going OB. I like the simplicity of them, but after owning a thru-hull exhaust boat i don't think i could ever give up the sound. I keep my boat at my folks house in the patuxent just down from Clarks Landing restaraunt. I spend a lot of time at Battle creek and tiki, we should get together some time. I thought i saw a SB 24 for sale online out of waldorf. Was that yours? If so are you still selling? I can't buy anything until I find out if I have to go to Taiwan for work for a year or not, but i am interested if I do not have to leave and its available this spring. |
Re: Superboats?
It might of been Gassticks' 24 / twin OB you saw for sale. He lives in Towson I think. There is another guy who just moved from NY to Calvert County with a 24 OB too. The was an older 24 for sale in Ocean City a while back. I think thats it for Superboats in MD. I don't have any plans on selling mine right now. I am repowering and probably keeping it for a few years.
I think fasteddy is selling his '30. He is down near Richmond. |
Re: Superboats?
Actually a 30Y2K seems to fit every requirement i have in a boat right now. They are more money than i originally planned on spending this year, but at least it would subdue my 2 foot-itis for a few years. I have to wait to see what my house re-appraises for first though ;)
|
Re: Superboats?
IF your gonna go new...& you have the room etc. ...may as well go Y2K.
-Used...this 24 you musta seen in the classifieds by now...its 4sale by a new owner again. & it has all the goodies for a good price. http://secure.offshoreonly.com/geocl...php?a=2&b=2868 -Oh...I'd never talk an "out of stater" into an O/B  . Dave M is just scared he's gonna get spanked by a "fishing boat". :D |
Re: Superboats?
I did see that one, and if its still around in a few months i'll get more serious about it. When i find out the amount of money i can spend, that will be the deciding factor over new 30' or used 24'. Before reading up on superboats i never even considered a 30 footer because i knew i couldn't afford it. But $51,300 is really really enticing for that much boat. My neighbor just bought a 90 MPH 38' sonic, so i gotta do the best i can with my money to keep up with the Jones'. A man can live off of one meal a day can't he?
|
Re: Superboats?
$51,300 is very enticing. But lets be real. Tack on another 10G's O.T.D. ...There's K planes...a trailer...& that gov't thing... called tax. :D
-Oh Dave...I'm "BACK IN BLACK" :D ...& don't worry...It will be painless...:D |

Re: Superboats?

Man we had 3 nice days in the begining of the week and i already talked myself into buying a bigger boat. Its not good when you get spring fever in january ;) |

Re: Superboats?
Light rain / lake fog yesterday, 55 F and 70 mph makes for cold hands - when the rain came I had to stop at the watering hole with Captwk and his 42' Sonic. At least we got out there for a while. Today the cold front is headed north, so we're supposed to see 74 F today, 78 F tomorrow!! Full tank needs to be emptied, I'm sure :).........
RA is talking bikini time. Damn I hate that - will try to send some new photos after this weekend - when the heck am I gonna get those 'winter' projects done????? 39 hrs on Once Bitten, running great and I can tell I'm getting used to handling her in the turns more as I get braver to do faster 90's and 180's........ |
Re: Superboats?

Re: Superboats?
Maguyva,
I was with John back in 1980. And I was one of the builders of your boat. A quick question. How far is the center of the propshaft from the bottom of the vee ?? Back in the 80's the X dimension was lower then it is today. You might be able to run a shortie on your boat and gain some MPH. And break 90 !!! Rick |
