600hp is the biggest engine Merc puts in front of an XR. But, FASTERDAMMIT has 800hp in front of his!

Yesterday, Picked up my new to me , 89 SB 24 w 300 OMC.
Within the first 5 minutes of clearing the channel I had 68 mph @ 5900 Rpm but no GPS yet, Nick was claiming more when I went to meet him w the truck. I'll wait to vote until I have a GPS to back it up.

ECeptor you can put 1000 hp on a XR, but the question is how long will it last ??? Thats the whole reason merc. racing detuned the 600 in the 1st place it makes over 750 hp and they felt the drive would be taxed way to much with all that HP. As for Faster he will tell us soon enough if ther are any drive issues with 800 HP. Check out the Dec. powerboat issue, 2 drives to fill the gap between the XR and the # 6 drive. The konrad 540 & the IMCO X 1000, and soon the new merc. racing mini 6....................Gary

Gregsz,
Better be more then that. Years ago, Jeff Gerrardi used to get 66-67 out of a 235. You should be seeing 74-75mph.

All the way up on the transom but getting a jack.

I need a bow lifting prop ao I can use the tabs.
It will be there soon.
I have total confidence
Thanks

Hey Gary,
Call Whipple, they can help you make the changes required for 700-800 HP. :evilb:
From what I have read, the XR can handle 700HP. At 800HP, well we'll see how Faster makes out.
No mini 6, for the $$ for one, you can have 2 or 3 spare Bravo XRs...

Gary,
No I don't know for sure that Whipple has an upgrade for the Merc. 600.
However, the supercharger that Whipple uses is essentially the same as the one on your 600.
Like you said, the problem is with the electronics Merc uses, the PCM03 and smart-craft stuff...
I have heard that Whipple can reprogram the Merc 496s and now the 525. If they can do the 525, they can do your engine as well.
Call Dustin at Whipple, he will give you the straight scoop...\

Thanks Pat I will make all the connections to unleash the rest of the 600's reserve power for next year...............I'm sure that bump will put her in the 90's !!!!!!! I'm still not to sure about the drive though, remember we did an upper gear change this past summer on merc's tab.
