OK, at 74.1 GPS I'm determined to get into the "Very Fast Class". Gonna have to chase down the five blade, drain the fuel to vapor status, shuck all the Fattowels and extra PFDs, and leave RA on shore with a radar gun :).......

Oh Yea, While At Superboat Sat. 5508 Picked Up Johhs/ Jr's Race Boat ( 5508 New Onwer ) With The 525 Hp. Now Going In For Whipple Supercharger !!!! Rumor Has It He Will Be Looking At 93 And Up !!!!!!!!! Hey Bash, Better Redo The Speed Chart !!!!!!!!

Am i allowed to post although i don't have a " Superboat" even though it is a superboat,looks,acts,hang's out with fellow superboats,i'll even get a superboat decal and slapit on!!! I know its a foot wider,a little heavier,a little older,and a little slower at 69 mph!!! let me know guys!! tripps

-10mph should be no problem for you Pat ...but you can always add more HP to her during her mid-summer re-freshening. :rolleyes:

Thanks for that poke Super!! I'll manage my goal if I have to sell the wife. You can't put a dollar limit on fast boats, what's wrong with her anyway??? I just bought her the home she wanted, she should leave me alone. :mad:

I have three choices I need to decide on.
1. When it gets here, pull the 496 and have GT marine drop in his motor. 700hp
2. Have Tyler Crocket or AZ Speed and marine build the 496/whipple 750hp
3. Step up to the HP525

All about the same price. I like the HP #'s on 1 and 2 but it will put me farther into boating season. Decissions.........

Sounds good Pat, I thought of that but I'd be married to the blue motor the insurance price forever. I hate boat insurance!!! Maybe I should get a price fron JC anyway, Would make my summer longer having it ready when it gets here.

I pay $700 on my 24' with the little 310HP/7.4.
I don't want to know how much more after I bolt in my 415HP/502... :rolleyes:

My best top speed 88.3 on gps. 1980 SUPERBOAT 24 with Gale Banks Twin Turbo

The engine is Heavily modified, Forged crank, Manley H beam rods, JE forged 8.0 CR pistons, Dart Iron heads, Manley Inconel valves, Custom ground cam. The stock mercruiser MPI intske was cnc port matched to the Dart heads, the fuel rail was bored out io increase the fuel flow and accept the larger injectors, and the stock cool fuel setup was repaced with an Aeromotive 1000 hp fuel pump and GIANT fuel cooler( same size as a Trans cooler)and all of the fuel lines are 12-AN braided SS to supply sufficient fuel volume.
The ECU was custom programmed by AS&M. I t also has a custom fabbed water to air intercooler, and methanol injection that turns on at boost levels above 15 psi. Obviously with this level of boost (21 PSI) the cyl heads are o-ringed with copper head gaskets, and the block is studded to keep things in place! The best thhing about this boat is it is a wicked sleeper, super quiet around the docks, and with the velvet (CYBORG) drive it is a dream around the docks.

I had not heard of a 24' Super that runs over 90mph.

Jo at Pantera has said that he has customers with 650HP engines in 24s running 90+.
And he personally built a 24' with 850HP that did hit 100... :evilb:

ok im postin late but better late than never
93.3 gps alone with empty fuel tank and a heavy chop on the great south bay, 29p 5 blade hydro, 93octane ,5 lbs of boost ,bandit racing 509 ,braxo xr with a 2 inch spacer not sure of actual hp too cheap to pay for dyno time! builder claims 725 hp i figure 675hp,
90.3 gps with 4 adults and 3/4 tank of fuel and full cooler

and i know bash only likes gps #s There are 3 gps speedos on my boat one monster on driver side and one 3 in on throttle side and on on the chart plotter all with seperate recievers and the are always within a point or two of each other!

OK....I just ran across the mystery Y2K'er on the job I was talking about earlier. His name is Donny. He was from Babylon...now lives ouut east. He knows JCAP. He has a 2003 Y2K...race hull layup... right after JohnJr's. He's running a 540...I forget how many HP...(find out tomorrow)...has a best speed of 89. First words out of his mouth was "BowLift"...he has run high & low & agrees deeper with trim is the only way he can get speed. He is trying an extension box next for the hell of it. :cool: I told him about the Y2K(X) currently being built by Rocker Rick. He liked the idea & said that is what it needs. :)
