For sure the drive will not live as long with 700+HP vs. 600HP. When your ready to bump the power, you may want to plan for a spare drive. I think you can find a good 04 or 05 XR for around 5K. Swapping drives takes less than 1 hour, but waiting for one to be rebuilt in July could really wreck your season...
Gary, I have blow up or broken so many things over the years that I have now stockpiled spares for just about everything.
Last year I pieced together a spare Bravo drive. This year I'll be rebuilding my 454 to have a complete spare engine.
We don't have the longest boating season here in the north as you are aware...

Pat you have all the possible problems covered..........thats the way to do it. Perhaps the spare drive is the way to go for me, I do know a couple of guys who do keep spare drives..............Once again this sport is all about fun and $$$$$$$$.

A Spare Drive Is OK Gary But What U Gunna Do If U Blow The 600 I Bet It would Take a While To Fix That Sucka

I'd say the 600 is a lot less likely to blow than the drive.
But if the engine was to blow maybe Gary would buy a new one from JC Perf...

I moved up a class this year!!!! 83 w/ me driving!! 85 w/ lightspeeds son mike drivin ( must be in the blood) It was a good year when you pick up 8- 10 mph with dialing in and more seat time flying my 21. And it is the 2nd 21 every made by SB.
