Merc 525 W/ITS and Race mounts Mercury Straight cut exhaust tips w/flappers... Mufflers down the road only if hassled Labbed Bravo 28p 4blade(may go with hydro labbed 5 blade) Sea Strainer 380S K-Planes Merc drive and tab indicators Merc Racing guages/ White face w/ polished billet bezels Speedo/Tach/Temp/Fuel/ Volt/Oil Pres. Smartcraft monitor Digital depthfinder Compass Garman 172C GPS Power hatch lift Porta-Potti w/inclosure AM/FM/CD W/4 spkrs...not to crazy...only for when floating around....wouldnt want to drownd out the sweet sound of a big block @ red line... Cockpit lighting Engine compartment lighting 3 Cupholders /Silver 3spoke MOMO steering wheel / Silver Cigarette lighter and additional power outlet Black sunbrella cockpit cover Gray full (vinyl type)cover to the chine Bimini top black...(must have as per the misses) Delete the standard giant Grab bar for a less obtrusive polished billit grab bar in front of the pass. seat. 3 billit 6" grab handles on cockpit sides for front and rear side passangers ***A window below the passanger side dash in the wall between the cabin and cockpit that can open for additional ventelation and a bit of natural lighting(a square porthole style w/screen)*** Rick gets the credit for that idea... Thanks for the suggestion...something that I believe the boat was lacking and a SUPERboat idea Evolution right before our eyes(0;0) And finally, an Aluminum trailer Mfg. yet to be determined and supplied by me. I took a deposit on my 24 SUPERBOAT yesterday so things are comming together nicely. I will miss that boat, so far the best boat I've owned and the new buyer from L.I. got himself a great deal with a bunch of extras and is the 2nd 24' SUPERBOAT in his family. Now the waiting game begins... With Ricks help I hope we all can enjoy the build process....Pass the Popcorn please |
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Oh yeah... the local upholstery shop has supplied some vinyl samples... and I going with black and silver inserts with white surrounds and trim. The black and silver is real cool kind of a carbonfibre texture to it. the upholstery shop is going to do the cabin. Nothing fancy...leaving the white gelcoat for easy maintenance, and going with the black vinyl on the v-berth and side coushions. Were giong to add a coushion back to the side benches against the hull sides and sort of wrap them around a bit on the ends where the cabin wall is and the bulkhead Sooooo... stay tuned...

Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Gary,
What do you think about this window ? Second down from the left. Took me around an hour to find the company on the puter. I think a nice size would be around 9" X 14" . That would fit nicely under the port dash. Rick |
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
|
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
I like that window as well...seems larger than the one JC showed me and would allow more light in. He suggested one that was more a porthole size with a fixed window that hinged down(could flop around on the run). when open I'd assume the a similar amount of airflow but I do think this bigger one is better. Please show that to JC and his thoughts are appreciated as well. But as for now I prefer your selection better!

Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
either an alum frme or white frame should be ok seeing that Im doing pollished billet bezels and grabhandles and rubrail etc...
|
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
OK Rick - if you can cut a 9x14" hole in that vertical front bulkhead, then I can assume I can instead cut 10" subwoofer holes there too without affecting structural integrity? This seems to be the only plce subs could be mounted securely....
|
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Yeah but you cant have anyone with a metal plate in their head sit in the cabin on that side cause theyll be stuck to that sub....HA!

Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Keith,
On the port side of the cockpit, in front of the passanger seat, under the dash. There should be aroung 9" clearance for a sub woofer. Poke your head under and look. There's plenty of room. I wouldn't cut the bulkhead for a speaker. Keep it in the cockpit sides, under the dash. Rick |
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Oh Zone................ROTFLMAO
|
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Thanks Rick - I've been (and so have stereo gurus) crawling all over trying to figure a place - the port footwell is ideal, but then are you saying not to do the same cut on the stbd side due to the cut out already there for fuse/helm access? I'd like to put a matched set in, but it may be too much with the exisiting opening. The only other place is in the cockpt liner, nearer the floor close to the seats, in your basic "kickpanel" area, but I'm concerned a sub will just vibrate too much there without a more solid backing. Your thoughts are appreciated! Keep'em coming, I'm about to order components next week or so.....
LOL, OH-Zone - I'll be sure to NOT bring floppy discs or tapes down there, and hopefully they'll be far enough away frommy compass!! HA! :) |
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Yeah everyone would be wondering why your going in circles...
krak, wouldnt you think 1 large sub would do the job in front of the passanger? The sides I dont believe would be thick enough....Another thought...though there isnt a lot of storage but could you convert the forward locker/bulkhead and mount a larger piece of starboard or something over the existing door to mount a sub, or if you dont have the porta-potti, down low below the v-berth(not sure on the fiberglass thickness there though) |
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Keith,
On the drivers side of the cockpit ( under dash ) you should be able to put a sub there also. First look from the cabin and check from under the dash to make sure there are no wires that need to be tie wrapped out of the way. You can't mount them too close to the cockpit sole though. Theres only around 4" to the side of the hull there. Rick |
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
OK, got it, thanks Rick! I'm going to mount them as high as possible, probably 2-4" below the under dash opening. I'm building my interior now with custom cabinetry for the stereo and amp. I'm guessing I'll only add about 100# total, but I'll keep you posted - I'll prob soon start a new thread with work in progress pics for all to see.....

Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
sounds cool Keith
|
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Rick,
Have you mentioned to John that I prefer the sliding window that you have come up with? |
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Gary,
Yeah I mentioned it. I told him you found it online at a window manufacturer. His response was " tell him to order it". Gary, I'll contact the company and get a price. We can take it from there, OK. Rick |
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Rick;
I put a call into them but have yet to get a reply today...I know your busy so I thought I'd try and call for ya... Any thoughts as to when you'll start on mine? I see you are running pretty tight there in the shop. |
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
SO GAR, GETTING THAT BOAT FEVER ALL READY ???? :evilb:
|
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Your not kidding... My old boat is being picked up on friday...sniff...sniff...so I have to look forward to something...Yesterdays warm temperatures also feed the itch..
Rick I got in touch with American Marine windows. He felt that that type of window in a 9x14 size would be impracticle. Yealding a glass opening of approx 6x12 glass area, this being said the glass would only slide maybe 4" (not alot)... If he mitered the corners as opposed to the 3" radius corners youd pick up a bit more slide travel. It seems the tracks are quite substantial for such a small window(1" on the top and sides, 2" on the bottom) |
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
GARY, BE HAPPY YOU SOLD YOUR BOAT !!! I'M STILL SITTING ON MY BAJA . WHEN DID JOHN SAY YOUR Y2K WOULD BE READY ???? GARY.................
|
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Rick any other thoughts?
|
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Rick I was also assuming you ment 9"high X14"wide correct?
|
Re: Just Signed Up! Y2k Me Too!
Gary;
John said June...though when I was there last week he seemed unsure...I'm keeping positive thoughts that he can do it... |
