Early 80's 24 superboat
Does the early 80's 24 superboat have the same cabin setup as new ones? i.e. facing bench seats, porti potti, v-berth.

Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
Yes it does,My first 24 was a 1980.As they say the house is the same just the furniture has been updated.

Re: Early 80's 24 superboat

OK...the 70's style didn't have a "hatch"...just a cabin door. Yes... you had to "crawl" thru it. Mine isn't exactly a "walk thru" either  . ZUPERBOAT says the cabin layout is still the same...just the entrance has been opened up.

Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
Good, I can deal with that. Any info on the bracket?
|
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
O/B or I/O ????

Re: Early 80's 24 superboat

THIS 80 IS MINT. IT IS ON L.I. AT EASTCOASTMARINE. The owner's name is Tom. I have spoke to him. Boat has new powerhead on 300ProMax. Priced right.
What do you want to know about the bracket install. It is straightforward. I have had setbacks off/on 21's & 24's. Cables & hoses & harness must be lengthened 99% of the time. |
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
Just wondered because of the notched transom (height of bracket to low) and yeah cables that might be an issue. That 80 is nice whats he looking to get for it. Any more leads on some in your area ( I'm in NJ).

Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
Looks like Bash has some ***** in his cabin! :D
|
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
Yeah the pic of Dave S's boat is what I am thinking...thanks
|
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
No. Dave S has the red 24 with the gil bracket...& the 70
MRAGU's PROGRESSION (white) has the swim platform/bracket. Lets not confuse this. Dave M...remember BASH's motto NO FAT CHICS IN THE SUPERBOAT :D |
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
ok ok I see. Not sure if that type of bracket will work with a notched transom superboat because it looks like it will set the bracket low. Dave S's boat must have been set up for I/O originally because his transom is not notched.

IT WILL WORK. I HAVE AN 18" STAINLESS MARINE BRACKET...ITS THE SAME AS THE SWIM PLATFORM VERSION...MINUS THE PLATFORM. I ALSO HAVE A NOTCHED TRANSOM...& DID THE LAYOUT/INSTALL.
-(YES...DAVE S's IS AN I/O ORIGINALLY) |
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
there ya go thats what I was looking for, you basically rerigged the boat to install? (ie cables, steering)
|

I originally had it setup with a 12" S.Marine setback...but when I felt I needed more setback...I got the 18" (shoulda got the 18" swimplatform version )....& hadda extend everything.
|
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
looks good :D What did it cost you to extend everything? Not including bracket.
|
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
HYDRAULIC STEERING HOSE...$100
LABOR FOR HOSE...EXTEND OIL TANK HOSES...& STRETCH THE WIRING HARNESS (didn't need the 5' extensionharness) 2hrs. -BRACKET was $600...& I did the install originally. -TOTAL 1K. -NOW...The BEST PART IS I HAD A 25" 250 motor....Now I WENT WITH A 20" 300X...hadda lower everything 5"...:( |
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
oh well...it will be worth it. The superboat I saw is the one you posted about on screamandfly, you said you did a run with him in CT. It's the red and white 1981 with a 300 on it.
How did the boat look in person I have only seen pics? I figure for the right price I can sink some money in her! |
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
Honestly...be careful. Definately have a surveyor (FX10) do a moisture test on it. The boat needed a good cleaning/waxing. Other than that...just make sure all the wood is good. The motor is a 2000 25" mota on a 20" transom...its not right. Also...not sure of the motas' mechanicle condition. The owner used to come on this forum (30SUPER)...but I met his dad at Ct. Riv Run ramp...but he didn't run the boat...he was just showing it (on trailer).
-Man...the things you can find out on a computer!!! :D |
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
Scary isn't it  I actually talked to his uncle he has a 30 tempest, 26 sutphen and his nephew has the 24 superboat all for sale
|
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
Most likely who ever had it built either wanted them or didn't. Nice thing about custom built.
|
Re: Early 80's 24 superboat
Some have the hatches, some don't. I've seen late model 24's with them. I don't hang out in my cabin much so I never felt the need to have them.
