Trailers
What about trailers? John said something about ACE in Florida. Nice aluminum trailer but not to crazy of the square fenders. Any pics of what's been used or recommended?

Re: Trailers
Keith got an awesome trailer in Fla. PM him "Kracmeup"
|
Re: Trailers
I went to the posts when he was talking about his RollsTrailer. Good looking. I'll have to check on prices.
|
Re: Trailers
Tom,
Keith got a great price on his. |
Re: Trailers
I have a Aluminum Slide On made by a local St.Pete trailer place called Owens and Sons. Good quality and reasonable prices. (I paid about 2500 for a tandem with all stainless steel disks)

Rick, thanks for posting the link again.
Tom, yes I got an excellent deal on my trailer, as the folks at Rolls and I talked about my representing them here in Texas. I haven't done that yet, but am very pleased with their product. Their trailers are, by far, better than most you'll see and they have the PATENTS to back it up. JC and Rolls worked closely together to get mine ready, and they can do the same for you. They sell through a dealer network but I'm sure JC can arrange it with them, if not get with me and I'll get you a personal contact. It is a family owned business in Plant City, FL (St Pete area) and their quality is awesome. Take a look at one of my old posts about "a dark and stormy night" to read how the trailer quality saved my Superboat! There are cheaper trailers out there, and it will be more than $2500, but they are very competitive with much more features for the $$ when you do apples-apples. PM me for more! Here's some pictures. Gary - note the stepped bunks I added, you'll want to do the same for Superbabi. Keith |

Re: Trailers
krak
how far does the tongue extend past the tip of the bow of the boat? I have an issus with my driveway length. And do the bunks extend just past and completely the transom? |
Re: Trailers

Hey Gary -
I'll have to go measure the distance from bow eye roller to ball hitch, I'll go by there today and take the measurement. Yes, the bunks support the entire transom, see below (ok - and also note the temp duct tape mod for our trip home, before I was able to get the steps done!) The bunks (6"x6") are made from the CENTER core of Florida cypress trees and thus give tremendous support and flex - they are estimated to have a 40 to 50 year life, but no one has worn one out yet...... K |
Re: Trailers
BTW, I upgraded to all LED lights and 15" wheels.
JC and Rolls got 95% of the measurements exact! When we got to L.I., JC and I had to move the midship bunks in one bolt hole, raise the v-berth support one hole, and adjust the pucks to set the angles on the hull. The next SB'er should have even less adjustments...... |
Re: Trailers
Sounds good Keith. The measurements overall would be helpful here to. I wonder if they make a folding tongue.
|
Re: Trailers
Krak
PM me or share with us what you spent. I did speak with them once and got a general # My likes are -14in alloys (5 star). closer to the ground=easier unloading (very shallow where occasionally launch. BTW you boat sits nice and low. -LED lights -spare w/alloy rim... I see you ended up mounting your spare laying down I prefer it that way myself...why did you go that way? -Stainless brakes/rotors |
Re: Trailers
Gary, sent you PM.
I bought tandem, 15" galvenized wheels, disc brakes on one axle. Their SS hubs are hand machined works-of-art. They even machine all their SS lug nuts too. I bought a spare hub and originally had it vertically mounted, but when I 'lost' the trailerthe mount got beat up, so I simply laid it there, mounted the spare hub to the trailer frame and placed the spare over it, worked great. Everything is bolt together, with all SS hardware. Send me your email address and I'll send you the pics of the damage - Rolls sent me the parts free of charge and I simply bolted on the new pieces and was back on the road! |
Re: Trailers
P.S. The SB floats on, floats off - a true joy to launch, recover!
And yes, I like the low ride angles as well! The trailer does slightly float, but they weight the axles down so with your 14" wheels it may not float at all - my 15" tires give a little more bouyancy, but it has not been an issue. |

Ok, it's rainy here so the measurements were quick - over all length was ~35.5' (but remember that's to the end of the transom, the SB extends another ~20" or so with swim platform and K-planes).
Width, fender to fender was right at 8' Bow eye roller to hitch ~68" |

Re: Trailers
Krak
what size ball for that trailer? |
Re: Trailers
Ball size is 2 5/16", the big boy ;)
|
Re: Trailers
Keith,
You did a beautiful job with the stepped bunks. All youi guys should be taking lessons. The wider bunks distribute the load more evenly PS... Keith, Remind Tom to weld on his ball. LOL We don't need that happening again. Rick |
Re: Trailers
Tom, Gary,
You fellas interested in doing a group deal with Rolls? I spoke with Danny today. We can discuss the details now if youd like...I happen to like what they offer. |
Re: Trailers
Yes I am. Keep me up to date.

Re: Trailers
This is what I got so far with my specs:
Model W3070T- 14" tires- 61/2 beam- Net load 6020 lbs(same as Kraks) Tandem axel- w/stainless stee hubs 1 set of s/s rotors, s/s calipers posi-lube hubs led lights(standard now) spare tire $4,150.00 $350.00 additional for (5) alum 5star rims(Im considering but Danny at Rolls almost discourages it saying with that long a trailer you may bang a couple curbs and regret spending the extra $$$ only to scuff em up. Hmmmm... He has a dealer in Willmington NC and charges $60-$80. per trailer to ship it there. Any farther North an independant is required. He said he could do slightly better if a couple were ordered. I kinda sense hes only talking $100.00 of so though I didnt try to pin him down till I know what were seriously talking about. I did stop in and check out the ACE trailer at JC's 2 wks ago. I got a price about 4 wks ago and was qouted $3550 w/ 14" alloys similarly equiped (no LED's ). Less $320 if alloys were dropped. I put a call into them today but have yet to get a call back. Oh, and they'll deliver pretty much to the door as well...Good construction trailer, all ss hardware, but I felt the bunks were narrow and unable to angle, the fenders were fugly I tried to call Allison trailers but their mailbox was full. I do like this trailer as well. I did however speak w/them several weeks ago and since they are a OSO advertiser they were Offering similarly equipped $4330.00 but I would want to confirm |
Re: Trailers
Gary, Thanks For Thinking About Me. No Trailer For Superbabi,,,,,,,,,,,, Gary
|
Re: Trailers
No trailer at all?
|
Re: Trailers
Thanks Gary H. Your research if greatly appreciated. I really don't care for tha Ace fenders. That's why I was asking originally. let me know what you think of Allison.
All your options look great to me. I'll take the aluminum wheels for sure. What about a folding tongue? |
Re: Trailers
Gary, The Boat Will Sit At A Waterfront Location In South Jersey ( Jersey Shore ) On A 4 Point Lift. So At This Time No Trailer, Perhaps That Will Change In The Future...thanks Gary
|
Re: Trailers
1st off I think I prefer the Rolls trailer. I spoke w/Danny @ Rolls and he said he could probably fabricate a swing for tongue but has never been asked to do that on that size trailer. He says that you would only gain 18" or so and he's not sure what your trying to gain but if you want it he'll do it. What do you think?
|
Re: Trailers
If Krak gives us the lenght of the 1" step he added to the rear of the bunk Danny will incorporate that in to the bunk
|
Re: Trailers
Gary H,
I have a large fountain next to the house. Trying not to relocate it so I can just have the boat in front and close the gate. If I remember I have 34 to 35' before it has to move. |
Re: Trailers
Cool! Glad to see you checking Rolls out - I'll get the measurement on the step bunk, I think it was 48" - perhaps Rick can tell us the length of the last step?
I mounted a 2x6" onto the existing bunk and then covered it with bunk carpet. It would be nicer if Danny can mill down the cedar bunk accordingly insted - I almost opted for that with a local carpenter, but it was a lot more effort to remove the bunks and then remount. I am still also fitting my midship bunks, they need about a 2" lift at the bow to match the SB hull curvature. I'll talk with Danny on this next week......and get you that measurement. Keith |
Re: Trailers
wAY TO GO kEITH !!!
|
Re: Trailers
Thanks Keith, myt thoughts exactly mill down the forward section of the rear bunk 1"
Tom so do you want me to ask for a price for the swing a way tongue then? Anything else you can think of? I think I'll spring for the alloys as well. I'm assuming you want it shipped to JC's as for me that would be fine. Danny wasnt sure on shipping cost. He has some options, and if time enough exists, possibly someone from his shop may be able to run them. Whats JC say about completion time for ya? |
Re: Trailers
Yes, no, and Yes. JC has not said. Sometime this spring?
|
Re: Trailers
I just measured the SB, the rear step is 52" to the transom, and 1.5" deep.
I used a 2"x6"x48", and it seemed to work nicely. |
Re: Trailers
Tom, Spoke w/Danny to get some more accurate #'s he said the swing-a-way will save you at least 18 inches. He needs to engineer one strong enough and figure a price. Wiring will be a 5 flat connecter. a 4 flat plug will work, but the 5th pin is for the backup lights to activate the selinoid to releave hydrolic pressure on the surge brake. Which leads me to this recomendation for you as I'm doing it on my trailer, that is, putting a manual shut off valve in the brake line so if your moving the trailer and have no juice to activate the selinoid you can back up the trailer w/out locking up the wheels (comes in handy at the boatyard where they always try to muscle the trailer around with a forklift or something). Just my advice and a cheap item that can make your life a lot easier as well as not beating up the trailer!
|
Re: Trailers
Anyway Danny will be getting back to me /us in short order with some solid #'s
Tom: if they are agreeable are you ready to pull the trigger. |
